I have only hunted there the last couple of years, but some of the fields have been planted and some have not been. Haven't really seen deer during daylight in the fields. Never ran into another hunter in the woods last year, but I can't seem to get away from them this year. Some of them doing some dangerously stupid things. Good chance to see hogs around the swamps if that interests you. Wear more orange than you think necessary.

On the WMA print it shows a lot of wildlife openings. I am not sure if they are actual greenfields or not. They are greenfields. Usually, they are well maintained.

Wow. I was hoping not to run in to anyone in the middle of the week. Midweek is definitely the better time to go, probably won't run into anyone. I've just had bad luck so far this year I guess. And there is plenty of room to get away from people, just can't help when they walk right by you in the tree and climb one 75 yards away...with a rifle.

I'm planning to be there next Friday and hunt for a week. I'm hoping the campground isn't too crowded and I can get a space with power and water.

[img] https://postimg.cc/64Wt6WBt https://postimg.cc/k6d7ZNZV I dont know if the images are coming through but I thought I would give a update. There was very little to no traffic on the WMA. Plenty of land out there. There green fields were maintained. They are basic winter rye, clover and maybe something else. I kept finding these brown seeds which I think are Persimmons. Whish I could have found those trees. It was unseasonably hot. It was a full moon also. I saw a lot of sign but no deer. I will hunt this property next year during bow season. Coming from Florida this is a very beautiful patch of woods. I met a older Fella named Dean. He has 40 private acres in the Forest. Cant wait to get a invite to his property. My brother killed a 6 point off of our private parcel. Besides the weather and the moon I had a great time and got a whole weeks worth of scouting in.

That’s a swamp chestnut I believe not a persimmon.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

That looks more like honey locust beans to me. Deer love them. They will have a black bean looking pod hanging from the tree is the best way I can describe them.
