Well my SOA hunt at Fred T Stimpson was a bust. I never did even see a deer. I hunted Thursday and Friday but decided not to waste any more time there since I wasn't seeing anything. The unit I had was mostly big pines with oaks scattered around mostly in the creek bottom. Now when I say creek bottom, the creek was at the bottom of a giant hill. Elevation went from 250 ft to 90 ft. After 2 days of walking up and down this hill scouting for oaks that were dropping acorns and not finding hardly any, my legs were so sore that I just didn't feel like continuing this hunt. I did however learn that I am way out of shape and I won't be wasting my preference points on any more early season hunts. Oh yeah, they haven't planted anything down there yet because of the dry weather.

I almost got it done this morning on a stud 8pt about 16 inch wide. At least I got more info on him and learned a lot for next time. Lucky I got red and white dropping on my lease. So I don’t think he is going far.

Damnit everyone is putting points on the board and still haven’t made a sit yet. You guys are gonna have to pull my slack until gun season
I know how you feel. I had shoulder surgery end of July so my bow season was shot. Looking forward to gun season but as usual, work is gonna get in the way a good bit.
