Mostly unrelated to your point, but was Jesus a vegetarian or vegan?

Gosh I Dunno Vern, That’s Really Question For The Aldeer Experts 😃

I think the ALDEER experts have concluded in the past that Jesus was a pescatarian because the only meat we ever see him eating in the New Testament is a piece of fish. Besides that he doesn't seem to eat anything except possibly bread.

I can't speak to the Un-American folks on here that don't cotton to Bologna.... That's a personal problem. Probably grew up eating Wheat Germ or something.....

I'm going to settle this debate for you about "Deer Meat" once and for-all right here: If they were better than a Cow... then we'd have them in pens.

That's a tough pill for some to swallow I know. The Truth hurts sometimes.

Just shows a cultural shift. In the late 1800's, early 1900's venison was preferred over beef. As were waterfowl.

Bovines can be left to pasture on grasses. Most cervids require a more varied, seasonally rotating diet but are not as capable as goats, for instance, at making use of everything green. They also lack the thousands of years of domestication that our livestock do.

Just curious as to where you got that information. How would someone even go about conducting a study like that 120+ years later?

Historical records. Remember, we had an entire industry of market hunters that were killing game meat for restaurants, and or course their other by products (hides, fat, etc.)

They were driving cattle from Texas every year, but by accounts, game meat was preferred by those purchasing meat.

Exactly. I grew up eating WAY more deer meat than anything else. My dad knew how to cook it for sure without adding too much other junk. When other people try some that I've cooked, they always say it tastes like one of the best steaks they've ever had.

Boys, go to Publix and get you some German Bologna.

It will make you slap your ol lady.

It's hard to beat deer jerky. Summer sausage is good.

I don't care much for deer meat but I'm not a good cook either.
It's hard getting that deer cold and processed.

I won't hunt if it's over 45 degrees

Had a german bologna and hoop cheese sammich for lunch today. Good, but better than a backstrap steak? Saying that is going out of your way to let people know you can't cook.

Properly handled venison is not gamey. Grocery store ground beef usually is. I season it an awful lot when we want a hamburger.

Where are y’all finding German bologna? I’ve never heard of it, but I’d love to try it.

Had a processor I used 6-7 yrs ago that made deer summer sausage he called trail bologna.
It was his own blend of seasoning in summer sausage.most addictive something you've ever eaten.

Then fry

I'm still thinking about a fried egg and baloney sammich on toasted white bread.
