I saw on Facebook( Jeff Danker) that the barometric pressure was suppose to be very high the of this week. Maybe that was just for the Midwest?

Just thought this should be reiterated. It's not just brakes, keep your equipment in check. If you're bringing a bow, might want to try shooting it in the cold. I've heard they can shoot different. This is some real cold coming, not Bama cold.

I haven’t had an issue with them shooting differently in extreme cold. Hunted in this kind of cold in Illinois once and KS once and it didn’t change. Not to say it don’t for some. I’ve seen POI change a lot when shooting with thick gloves or face masks. That’s an anchor point issue.

IF I go, I will be in truck watching a road. My tail can't handle that cold plus wind.

Friday afternoon I’ll be in a thicket watching an old logging road. Sat morning probably same type setup. Both more than likely from the ground. I will say that I’ll strategically park my truck sat morning just in case. But 18 with 18mph wind is doable. Just need to find a wind break.

[quote=2Dogs .......This can not be overstated ! I hunted in Canada at -15 and the wind always blows up there. However ,

I got much colder down here just after Christmas '83.
[/quote]

I remember this week well! Stayed in the single digits for several days and we hunted. Noone saw a deer until the front passed. Everything in Bama was thawing out and plumbers were on speed dial from broken pipes everywhere. Deer moved when the thaw started and I think everyone in the group killed deer that day. There was one green field in a swamp three different people killed 3 bucks off of in a single day. That was one of the best deer movement days I have ever witnessed-just like someone flipped a switch on! I dont go when the temps are bottomed out. I have killed way too many deer to even think about making work out of my favorite pasttime.

Stay home till the temps start to go up and kill deer that have hunkered down during the arctic blast!

I can't stand a thief.

If it's cold and clear/sunny I have had good luck seeing deer. The wind doesn't seem to stop them from moving around my house. I have had days like this where I see literally every deer I have gotten a picture of in a single hunt. Throw in the moon will be cooperating and it should be a real special few days.

I'll be out there. Plan on loading up the boat with equipment. Going to have a spike camp back at the boat. Solo stove warming fire with cooking grate (for when I kill me some meat), coffee, etc. Just got to plan ahead.

If yall drive diesels don't forget to put some anti-gelling agent in them. Would be a bummer to wake up to go hunt and truck not start.

High winds are one thing, high winds when the temp is 5 is another. Good luck fellers.

I agree that Monday will be best movement day. Unfortunately central Al winds are forecast to be the dreaded light and variable.
