Got back from my property earlier, and they were moving today and yesterday. Pretty sure they knew what's coming and getting around while they can.

Deer didn’t do crap down here today

I've hunted all weekend every weekend for a long time and Ive learned when deer move and don't move.cold days with light to no wind with North West winds I always see deer.south winds and warm NO most of the time but in bow season it's something you deal with.20-30 mph winds at any temp NO
Can't kill deer at home but some days I feel I'm.putting unnecessary pressure on particular deer I'm after.i can just about guarantee what days I'll see deer

I remember this week well! Stayed in the single digits for several days and we hunted. Noone saw a deer until the front passed. Everything in Bama was thawing out and plumbers were on speed dial from broken pipes everywhere. Deer moved when the thaw started and I think everyone in the group killed deer that day. There was one green field in a swamp three different people killed 3 bucks off of in a single day. That was one of the best deer movement days I have ever witnessed-just like someone flipped a switch on! I dont go when the temps are bottomed out. I have killed way too many deer to even think about making work out of my favorite pasttime.

I remember that day. I walked across star lake in hoover because it was frozen. Well mostly frozen! I remember a few people fell in too! Back then we didn’t have Goretex or Sitka gear! It was cotton thermals and Walmart jump suits. Pocket warmers were those little fuzzy red boxes you got for Christmas and you lit the little silver stick inside them. I remember hunting that week and my dad gave me a green army wool blanket. I think that blanket saved my life!!! Hard to imagine that was almost 40 years ago.
