Browning ,,, ppppphhhhffffffff
I ain't never seen nothing special about them but the price . Nothing but name ,,, imo
I remember hearing that back in the 70s, just before whoever said it was cussing his 742 for jamming.

I got one now that'll burn through a 10 Rd mag with no problem. Brother inlaw has one he shot so much he burn the barrel out. Browning guns just a name , imo

I see your point when it comes to most rifles. Shotguns are a different story.

Coach, mine has never jammed either. I dont shoot it like an AR but im not diligent about cleaning it either. Only trouble i ever had is barrel getting hot and it wont shoot straight. Ive changed scopes on it a couple times. If you dont get it right in about three shots, you might as well put it up and wait till tomorrow to finish it. It goes three inches every which way every time you shoot it after that. Took me several boxes of shells to learn that. After sighted in, it was accurate as any gun ive had. Killed my first deer and my first racked buck with it . I'm sure it's like anything else , you get good ones and you get bad ones. I just lost confidence in it . My boys have always give me a hard time about shooting multiple times. If it's still on it's feet or trying to get back up I'm throwing another round at it ? Lol

I will agree with JWALKER here- if you don't dial it in within a 2 or 3 rounds, let the barrel cool and try again tomorrow. I use a 26 yd zero, so it is pretty close and easy to zero year after year.

I see your point when it comes to most rifles. Shotguns are a different story. Anyone who thinks a 742 is equal to or better quality than a pre-76 BAR , probably doesn't know which end of a rifle to load.

If I was you ,,,,, I wouldn't be selling it . Imo it being a carbine the value is only gonna go up.
To me 500 - 550 would be top dollar but that's me .
The 308 is the most wanted of the carbines
Be good gun to rebarrel to 35 Whelen too for thick cover hunting Thank you, I’ll take Frankie’s advice and I’ll drop price to 500. If anyone is interested shoot a text to 2565045431 or call.

I sold my 30-06 in the 742 30 something years ago to help purchase a 300 Weatherby and scope. I kept my 6mm in it. My brother and I killed plenty of deer with this little gun.
I'm not sure why it has the reputation it does, but both of my guns work/worked flawlessly. I still hunt hogs and coyotes with this 6mm. It is a great little ladder/climber gun. I really like to use it when stalk hunting deer or hogs, talk about maneuverable. It is also a great gun for a youth because of its overall length and l.o.p.
