Looking to fund or trade for a rifle for my girls. I am selling my Remington 30-06 sprg model 742 Woodmaster that is in great shape for its age. It does not have the clip due to being lost in our move, but they are $25-50 online. Scope is a Nikon Buckmaster 3x9x? with see thru rings and scope covers. $650/OBO or possible trade for a Ruger Compact 243 or possible other youth model 243 in as good as shape as this rifle. Text or call for pics at 2565045431 located in Gadsden, AL

You are describing, down to the scope my 742/ 30.06 I got for my 16th bday in 1980. I zeroed it again this year and look forward to hunting with it the last weekend which is my tradition. GLWS- these were made to last.

GLWS- these were made to last. That’s crazy!! I wish I knew more about it and had the cash flow to keep, but just don’t and really have no attachment to it. My dad hunted with it but since him and my mom split up it hasn’t been touched.

My first deer rifle but that sucker jammed more than the LA freeway . Great shooting gun but it was like shooting a bolt action. Shoot , clear it ,shoot, clear it, and shoot .

never any issues with the ones I’ve owned. often it’s lack of maintenance and cleaning that leads to probs with semi autos

You don't have to clean a Browning Auto. unless you just want to love on it for being soooooooo dependable!!

Mine has never jammed in 43 years- with either clip. Maybe it was the ones sold at Otasco that were trouble free!

Didn’t want to high Jack your sale . Just giving my experience with one . I went to Larry’s in Huntsville to sell it or trade on a new Browning . First thing out of his mouth was , has it ever jammed on you ? Told the truth and still got what I had in it . And yes , I routinely cleaned it and even carried it to a gunsmith and he broke it down and cleaned it . Just saying . 2 clips , one that came with it and one I ordered from Remington.

Coach, mine has never jammed either. I dont shoot it like an AR but im not diligent about cleaning it either. Only trouble i ever had is barrel getting hot and it wont shoot straight. Ive changed scopes on it a couple times. If you dont get it right in about three shots, you might as well put it up and wait till tomorrow to finish it. It goes three inches every which way every time you shoot it after that. Took me several boxes of shells to learn that. After sighted in, it was accurate as any gun ive had.
