This thread is actually fun for me no matter who is right. Take a look at this 8 pt (with 1 kicker) that has already been scored and let's see what you guys come up with. He is not meant to compare to the OP deer at all. EDIT: You have to know that where this deer is from, a buck's ears are about 7" long and 18" tip to tip. Also, this is not a funky camera trick photo and the hunter is 6'2", 210 lbs. The deer is exactly the same weight as the hunter. Heck of a deer 143 for me!!! Tough to tell with straight on picture if you ask me! But a stud! Very good estimate. The kicker is actually scored as another tine with a common base and is 7". The actual gross green score was 147.5. My point of posting the picture was to show what a 140 basic 8 looks like, which he is minus the extra tine coming off the right 2. Most people who had this deer in their hands guessed him in the mid 150s because he looks big with the mass and spread he has. I love a big 8. A 140 8 is every bit as impressive as a 160 10 to me. Score doesn't matter a lot of times.

Remember the good ol days when nobody gave a crap what a deer scored? You were just happy to see or get one. I miss those days.... Just happy too see one and maybe kill a spike = good ol days???? Screw that! I’ll gladly take the present over the “good ol days”. Seeing 10-20 in a good sit and passing 120” 3yr olds is pretty nice if you ask me.
You're only as good as your worst shot-

Remember the good ol days when nobody gave a crap what a deer scored? You were just happy to see or get one. I miss those days.... Back when hunting was fun, you didn't need 39 licenses and permits and privilege cards, and scoring meant gettin' a little on Saturday night.

We killed 8's that were over 150 in a club I use to hunt in . A 150 8 is a heck of a deer anywhere. I have never personally seen or know anybody that has seen a 150 Alabama 8 pt but I obviously must not have hunted the area you are talking about. I have hunted Alabama since 1984 and the biggest 8 I have seen taken in the state is a high 140s buck killed near Eufaula.many many years ago. I have only hunted the southern third of the state from Selma down.

There was one killed in the city limits of Scottsboro a few weeks ago. One of our local Taxidermists has one he killed several years ago. I bet several members on here have seen it. I have one that's within a pecker length of 150. Remember the one I told you about seeing on the last day of that public bow hunt? The Gibson buck? Heck of a lot bigger than 150”.

Forgot about that one , I saw it dead in the back of the truck. I know of one killed on BNP in the late 70's. How long is the statute of limitations?

The taxidermist that picked up my buck told he has a 158” main frame 8 with a 9” kicker he called it, in his shop. He’s gonna send me pictures when he gets back in town.

I'll take 143-148" for $1,000, Alex If it was truly a giant he wouldn’t be that far behind it to make it look bigger. It’s a great deer but not as big as he wants it to look. Lots of practice there...

My taxidermist had a giant Alabama 8 pt in his shop but it was a high fence deer. I would love to see the ones you guys are talking about as they must be very impressive.
