Not necessarily a rule. I just wanted him to cut the stuff in a way that would make the job easier and faster. If he had done it that way, we might have got done in five hours and got home an hour earlier. If "his way" worked out the same, it wouldnt matter. But the way he was doing it sucked and it was causing us both problems.

You're the boss, don't let him confuse that. You know how you want it done and that's what your paying him for. If that's not what he's doing he deserves your ridicule. Heck, that's the whole boss, employee gig. Just pass on him and you'll, eventually find a fellow redneckian, that's good with that!

Sounds like his Dad wasn’t like mine! No one could hurt my feelings! My Dad was hard on us and thank God for it! I was hard on my boys too! Way I see it is if the person who loves you the most in this world is hard on you then what could you possibly fear from the world???

Need to require all new recruits to engage in conversation on ALDEER for one week. Any that are still around at end of week might be worth keeping.

It’s sad to say but most anyone under the age of 30-32, I think don’t have the work ethic of earlier generations. And that age is probably a little low.

I had a feeling one time. Didn’t take me long to get rid of that chit!! Dad always told if I was feeling something, it better be a woman. He said “women were made for feeling, now get your arse back to work or you gonna feel my boot in your arse”. Guess which one I chose?

I got to the point I’d give someone two weeks to catch on when I was running landscape crews. After two weeks if you didn’t figure out what I expected I made damn sure you knew. Most didn’t make it the two weeks but if they did only 30% of them made it another week. I got out of it when only 10% made it two weeks.

The next day around 10:30 i sent him a text "work tomorrow" and he responded "yes sir". The next day he didnt show up, wouldnt answer the phone. I tried to call him several times. Later i sent him a text " just checking to see if youre ok", no response. A friend of mine helped me a couple days that week, life goes on, right. Then about a week later a friend of mine tells me he saw the guy and the guy told him i hurt his feelings that last day he worked and he didnt want to work for me any more. I reckon i need to take some classes or something so as not to hurt the feelings of these new sensitive types.

I live by the philosophy of an old man I worked with years ago. Better leave your feelings at home because I’m going to hurt them. And I have hurt a lot of them over the years. It always amazed me how soft some grown men are.

I don’t suffer fools very well, I would have told him how to do it, then if needed, showed him how. Wouldn’t have been any telling him 5 times. Sounds like you’re better off without him. Also sounds like he hurt your feelings.

You wouldn’t believe the chit I put up with in an auto plant. This is the first real job for a lot of these kids I’m getting now. They just don’t understand the concept of showing up on time and every day. This is the easiest it’s ever been to get hired on full time. All the have to do is make it 6 months and get a favorable eval and they get a job offer. Most can’t even make it a month before I can them for attendance issues. Had one call me one morning and said she was going to be late because she had bad tires on her car so she had to drive slow because it was raining. Had another call in because their power was out when they got up so they couldn’t take a shower and wouldn’t be able to get their garage door up. 🤦🏻‍♂️

My favorite is the entitled head complainer. You know, the one who says it's not just me, but it is just them complaining. I'm sorry your office is warm and you need to run a fan when the top 4 highest paid people are cold and wearing extra clothes. Sure I'll turn the temp down........

Half these fellas were raised by single mothers and government schools. Children need fathers to make them hardy and full of self confidence earned by real world accomplishment.

I see where some of y’all are mentioning “being hard”. There’s a huge difference in someone being hard and someone being an a$$hole. Most of this younger generation, that won’t work, hasn’t figured that out and just think everyone is an a$$hole.

You hit the nail on the head!! There’s some days I can hardly work for myself!! When we were farming and we’d get younger guys to come help up, it usually was a life lesson for them. I never disrespected them because I was raised never to disrespect people, but I was a tough teacher. I’d tell them something that needed to be done and I’d let them struggle and try to figure it out a few times on their own. I’d then show them the quick and easy way. Sometimes they didn’t like my method of teaching but it didn’t take them long to catch on to our way of doing things. Kids these days need lots of this. Mine still get lessons everyday.

I told him five times how i wanted him to cut the trees up after i fell them, so they would be easy to load. He just kept doing it the same way. I finally got off the tractor and showed him, then i showed him that it was easier to load that way. He said "i knew what you meant". I said" well, why didnt you do it then?". He said "i guess im just stupid". I throttled the tractor up and kept on loading. As far as i can remember thats the only thing i really got on him about at all that day. I had on other days got on him a little for the same reason, when i had repeatedly told him to do something a particular way and he wouldnt do it.

You big ol meanie. I hope he never tries to work for me. He'd beg you for a job after dealing with me. I'm not much on having the explain simple things 5 times. After about three times, they get the "because I said so" reason.
