I had a guy helping me untill a week and a half ago since i went back to work after i got hurt. He was pretty good help overall. Worked hard, showed up on time most of the time. So, a couple mondays ago we worked six hours. Worked pretty hard. I made good on the job so i paid him $250, and bought him lunch on the way home. It rained the next day so we didnt work. The next day around 10:30 i sent him a text "work tomorrow" and he responded "yes sir". The next day he didnt show up, wouldnt answer the phone. I tried to call him several times. Later i sent him a text " just checking to see if youre ok", no response. A friend of mine helped me a couple days that week, life goes on, right. Then about a week later a friend of mine tells me he saw the guy and the guy told him i hurt his feelings that last day he worked and he didnt want to work for me any more. I reckon i need to take some classes or something so as not to hurt the feelings of these new sensitive types.

Future labor force is in serious trouble.. I deal with this. MEN are hard to find now. I think a lot goes back to their parents.

Some folks just need to put on that Turtle Shell , hard shell finish.

How do you hurt someone’s feelings by paying they $250 plus lunch for 6hrs of work? Wish you were close because I’d work all of my off days for that and let you hurt my feelings. Bunch of damn pansies in the world now days.

I seen it at the plant, so many inpussinators, it kills me. Men just need to be men. I have never, or never will say, you hurt my feelings. 😢🖕ain't happening! We might fight but my feelings will be just fine...

I hope he’s ok, 😂😂😂 used to, everybody knew to check their feelings at the gate. Which reminds me I probably haven’t even heard that said in 10+ years. Used to there were even sarcastic hurt feelings report. Probably get fired/sued now if you gave somebody one of those papers.

Most business owners, bosses, managers and etc are bad leaders of people. Not saying you are, but when you are dealing with all kind of personalities you need particular leadership skill sets.

It’s what makes really good coaches, really good. IMO.

Some guys can take strait forward bossing, some need it indirect and need loved and nurtured. It’s a wild world. Lol

I told him five times how i wanted him to cut the trees up after i fell them, so they would be easy to load. He just kept doing it the same way. I finally got off the tractor and showed him, then i showed him that it was easier to load that way. He said "i knew what you meant". I said" well, why didnt you do it then?". He said "i guess im just stupid". I throttled the tractor up and kept on loading. As far as i can remember thats the only thing i really got on him about at all that day. I had on other days got on him a little for the same reason, when i had repeatedly told him to do something a particular way and he wouldnt do it.

About $41/hr hurt his feelings? Good grief. Tell him good luck making that somewhere else.

I am not a good teacher. I realize that. But i have tried hard to be milder mannered. My wife says my tone is harsh. Not to mention im trying to keep my help around so ive been working hard on talking respectfully and all that. I guess im just not good at it

Maybe he doesn't want to do that work anymore and it's just an excuse. I've seen it before.

Not the same situation, but same type personality. I was working with a really big guy and we started crimping wall panels at 530am, me on the smart end, him on the dummy end. Around 6 he says, I don't know if I want a popsicle or a water, I said I want you to get your azz down there and get to work. He didn't show up the next day, I reckon I'm awful! Terrible times, terrible times!

This is my theory on it. He wanted to quit and needed it to be my fault.

If that's all that was said, and he kept doing it his way instead of yours after multiple days, you're better off without him.

I've been accused of being too blunt a time or two myself...... Don't really mean to be, its just how it comes out.

That's how it orta be, your business your rules!!!

Boss hired 4 twenty somethings all in college together all friends with one another for three weeks showed up did the job no complaints and I helped out those that asked. Monday comes all work til noon then they decide to just leave "Mondays we need more help and boss is too cheap to hire anyone else so we quit." Sad part is those four went to work in fast food making $4.00 more per hour.
