I’m in the market for a pot call. I’ve never used one while hunting and thinking about trying one out. So who makes the best one??

You can’t go wrong with a Lon Trice pot.

Best depends on your ear and playing style. I'd get a crystal over slate from Sadler McGraw were I starting out. Dymonwood or equivalent striker should come with it. Then watch his videos to learn how to play it.

David Leonard makes one of the best slate pot calls you can get

Lots of quality call makers that are turning pots. It really depends on your preference, budget, time your willing to invest of waiting for one.

Ive been turkey hunting for 30+ years I’ve jus never used one. Mouth calls and an old box call has worked for me. But I’m more interested in one that sounds good at a low tone.

Gonna have to be more specific. Also consider the sound you want may be as much how you play the call as the call itself.

I think a pot call is something everyone should have. Some of those things are extremely expensive though. I don't have any expensive callers, but I do have a very good slate caller from Gary Joffrion at Magnolia Game Calls. I don't know if he is even still making them. I haven't contacted him in years. He was reasonably priced and turned out a quality call quickly. But you can get some good ones on Amazon or at Bass Pro/Cabela's, too. I paid $30 for that one, but you can certainly find some that are a lot more expensive.

The best one is subjective. I've called in birds with $15 Wal-Mart specials and $100 names. Buy one and practice with it.
