l plan to be sitting in the truck as the storms lighten up, walk in with rain gear, and be at my tree when they start to fly down. I think they will head to some open areas to dry out, so I'm looking for places on my lease where clear cuts and big timber adjoin....but I consider myself a newb in the world of turkey hunting grin

Y’all all stay home. Don’t need to get wet!

I love it when it storms through the night and clears up before daylight. I usually have exciting mornings with that scenario.

I think this will be the exact scenario for the western part of the state. Won’t even have to get wet.

Overnight/early AM storms that clear out in the morning can be phenomenal. If it's thundering a bit, get out there in your rain gear and see if you can find one cracking off to the thunder. If you do, throw out a few soft yelps on the edge of a clearing and wait to collect your reward.

Should pass through the western/northwestern side early morning, and be well passed by daylight

Hoping the wind isn’t howling behind the front though

My brain says to wait until the afternoon and Sunday morning, but my heart says to nut up and that I can’t kill them in bed

Probably be trying to get away from the clown show that is our hunting club on opening day so I can listen to water roaring down the mountains and not hear turkeys. But it's still turkey season so what else is a person to do?

When the get rocked through the night and have that early morning hangover, the game is in my favor for knowing where they like to be…. But they are better poker players than I sometimes

Some of the best hunts I’ve had have been in the rain

Best gobbling I heard last year was during a morning thunder storm. Killed him right after the rain stopped.

Walk quietly with wet ground. Birds may stay on roost longer and dry off a bit.

Gonna be 10mp-15mph Saturday. Looks like I may test an old field bird after the sun gets up.

Opening day ( FL ) rained all night. I killed one from a pair that hit the ground as soon as it cracked light. Turkey was flopping 6 minutes before legal sunrise. I would have guessed they would sit in the tree longer, but I think they were ready to get down after getting beat up by storms all night.

It would suck to sleep in a tree
