I listened to one burning it up across the paved road on the neighbors this morning. The bird that was with Stephens never said a word before I left for work.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

First morning in Bama. Had 2 maybe 3 gobbling this morning. Got set up on one with my dad in a less than optimal set up, but it was all we had based on where 2 of the birds were. All we could do was stand behind a hill that was about up to our waists with good cover in front on the edge of a field between where 2 birds were gobbling. A loud mouth hen pitches into the field and goes on and on. Clucking, purring, yelping, with one of the birds gobbling in a bottom 100-150 yards away. He gets silent and I figure he’s coming. Sure enough 5 minutes later here he comes strutting so perfect directly down the middle of the field. He’s getting closer and closer and I’m getting anxious cause my dads gun is still leaning against a tree next to him(remember we’re standing) Well he gets to 20 yards and my dad can’t stand it anymore and goes for his gun. Game over bird flys away out of our life. I think it’s the most mad I’ve ever seen him lol. One of the other birds gobbled a couple times more and he responded to a few calls, but was on the neighbors in a field and not budging.
Dad bailed in frustration and I’m on the other side of the farm trying to strike one Well he ought to be mad with himself. That is one of the first things I was taught. Make sure your gun up and ready at all times.
