What is your go to locator call? I usually don’t use one. We have plenty of owls and crows that fire up every morning to keep a bird talking for the most part. BUT , on those odd days or later in the morning what works for you? Brand also please

Cutting tube on bad windy days. Enough crows and owls to take care of it on most days.

Try to let nature wake - but carry a crow. Lot of times i try a loud single hoot w mouth cause sometimes he will gobble right n middle of the long hoot but use either

Use to hav a hawk screamer i loved - lost it - used that if he was closer and not talking - it sounded great

Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self

I mainly use turkey sounds to locate later in day. Cutting on mouth call or glass call generally

Had a hunter call me in with one. He blew the top out of that thing. I said I got to see what this is and what idot is blowing this. I was on private. He was on the neighbors. I eased up to the line with my binoculars. 3 of em. They were passing it around like a doobie. SMH

Older Hs strutt reed owl call. There’s no telling how many turkeys have gobbled at that thing.

Rarely I’ll hoot with my voice, and I carry a primos crow call. I hardly ever use either. I stopped trying to “locate” birds several years ago with shock calls. They’re going to gobble on their own and I don’t want anyone else knowing my location.

Picturing this is hilarious. I bet that was funny to see, lol.

Try to let the woods do it, but hoot some even later in the day, especially near the swamp or river bottoms. Can usually get some owls fired up and sometimes they gobble at that.

I have an old Knight and Hale crow call that sounds realistic. I have striked many a bird up with that call. I even had one close enough after I hit it he started drumming. He had a hen with him and stepped out at 35 yds. Had I not hit that crow call, I never would have known he was there. This was on Blue Springs Management Area years ago. They tend to be hush mouthed sometimes on public. Even private too.

Them boys from the hunting public have perfected that screech owl call they do. I think I'm gonna start trying that some when it is quiet.

Pretty sure turkeys associate crows flying around 6' off the ground with appearances of people. There's an area where every time I got one to working I'd be swarmed by those 6' crows. I gave up hunting there pretty quickly.

A hoot flute will shut an older gobbler down, too.
