What job, or type of job, are you seeking? That will make a difference in the type and style of your resume. Today I am the Sr Director of Programs, Proposals, and Program Finance. Its been 20 years since I have written a resume. That sounds like a pretty straight forward position that doesn't call for creativity. You can find what you seek on the internet, probably with the site others are recommending. The key for you is to get the buzzwords off the web that the position calls for. Leadership, grants, etc. You get the picture. Include these in your cover letter, then have your work history on the second page. NEVER have your work history be more than 2 pages and ideally it should be condensed to one page. The tricky thing for you will be condensing it without looking as though you are omitting anything vital. They won't care that you worked at McDonalds when you were in High School. When you reach our age and seeking a pretty high up position, they just want to know what you have done that is relevant. Jobs that seek creativity look for creativity in resumes. Executive and technical jobs look for neat, precise, succinct resumes. If there are a lot of candidates, they will often run the resumes through a scanner looking for the buzzwords germane to the position and chunk the ones that don't have them. This is not necessarily directed to Mr. Mudler but for everyone's benefit seeking a position or new position and is info covered in one of my classes I taught at Faulkner years ago. It goes without saying that if you are like me and more of a content writer and not that great with grammar get someone, like Clem, who is, to proofread it. Pretty sure he'd help an Aldeer brother or sister out for a small fee or bottle of scotch.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.
