All this is ridiculous.

I get resumes every week and they are all template oriented. The same work activity descriptions are plagiarized from one resume to the next to the next.

Why? It's all pretty standard. You want to stand out based on your work experience... NOT come up with something creative nobody understands what you are talking about... the reason is the reader can't grasp what your experience is.

So as an example.... if you folded envelopes. You say you folded envelopes like the other 200 resumes say. That's clear and understandable to the hiring manager.

The way to stand out in 2023... show you have worked your arse off. From early on. I like someone that says they worked through college or had a job at the Chicken Shack to help pay for ______. That stuff is meaningful to a hiring manager right now in 2023.

Demonstrating some kind of Work Ethic will 100% get you the interview as long as your are qualified.

If you haven't worked your arse off.... good luck. That's your problem and you will be in the same stack as the other 2000 applicants.

That's how it's working right now for us in our business.

Here is what is not working:

A resume that shows you really haven't worked that hard or when you roll up in your Range Rover for a $50k job.... that you have likely lived off Mommy and Daddy.

This is a good place to start: Go to InDeed. Read the various job descriptions for the position for which you will be writing the resume.

Take the piece of paper and write down all the things you have done which fit the said job descriptions you have read.

If those job description says "must be willing to fold envelopes"

If you have folded a bunch of envelopes you are in luck.... You write:

Folded and timely presented envelops for Marketing Department for multiple mailouts.

If you haven't folded envelops you might not be qualified. Move to the next job duty. Being qualified for the position and what you need to put on the resume is self explanatory IMO.

Something like that as an example...... . That's how to do this.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.
