Great pics! How do you get it so hot? I did a burn of 4/29 - 75 degrees, 30% humidity, set the fire at noon, burning uphill with a 10 mph SE wind at my back, and I couldn't keep it lit. We spent 4 hours on a 30 acre burn that will burn in 30 minutes in Feb. Most of it finally burned, and it did a lot of good in the few places where it got hot. But there were lots of places scattered around that never burned at all. One pine had a vine all the way into the crown, and the vine caught fire and it got hot. Looks like it killed the tree. I think my problem is that the areas that are really thick and need to burn are also the places with few pines, and therefore few needles on the ground. But nowhere in the burn did I have flames like I see in your pics. Do you think I should hire a professional?

Somehow I don't think a professional will help you in this case. It is all about fuel. If you have pine straw or broomstraw and sunlight you can get a good fire. Take out the sunlight and it gets hard - heavy shade of gum, etc, KILLS a good burn unless it is very dry. Cool thing about these fires is it will seldome if ever burn in hardwood stands. Sapling hardwood can't stand it though! Try this link to the video of the burn we did today in 103 heat index http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViBXoP9goBE

Cool video gobbler. I wished they did controlled burns in North AL and TN. I don't know of anyone who does them up here.

Seen them do a couple around where I live, only in certain locations.
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.
