The Book of Enoch and the Book of Jasher may fill in some of the blanks in Genesis. They may or may not be divinely inspired but some of the information in them make sense.

Now consider the Biblical chronologic timeline...just assume it is fairly accurate for this exercise and the dates are roughly correct +/-: Adam (year 0 to year 930) and Methuselah (year 687 to year 1656) knew each other for 200+ years. Methuselah and Noah (year 1056 to year 2006) knew each other for over 500 years at least. Noah's sons (Shem, Ham and Japheth) also knew Methuselah for almost 100 years. [ Flood-Babel-Scattering of Nations. Noah and sons were at Babel. ] Noah (died in year 2006) was in the same area of the world as Abram (name changed to Abraham...year 1948 to year 2143). Isaac, Jacob, Moses, etc...

Tell me about the life of your great, great, great grandmother on your dad's side of the family. smile

That a good ways back. Details are sketchy. But I have my grandfather's Bible with some info. Also, I don't think my people were worried about preserving a historical record from creation or were divinely inspired by God to write it down. grin

My dad's side of the family were from PA Dutch German ancestry, moved west some. Johnstown Flood of 1889 sent a bunch of my clan west to Ohio and Iowa. 8 siblings and their spouses and children settled in Blackhawk Co. Iowa, Hudson and Waterloo communities. My great-great-great grandmother was Mattie Strayer (Benshoff) Born 1820, died 1907 in Blackhawk Co. She had 13 kids. She was a farmer's wife. Pretty busy. I bet she could cook good. My great-great grandmother was Susannah Strayer (Cain) born in 1841. My grandfather I grew up with on our farm in Mississippi was born in 1902 in Blackhawk Co. My people were farmers and lumber mill folks.

Martha "Mattie" Strayer (born Benshoff)
Birth Sep 6 1820 - Conemaugh Twp., Cambria Co., Pa.
Death Jan 14 1907 - Waterloo, Black Hawk Co., Iowa
Parents Paul Benshoff, Sr. and Barbara Benshoff (born Wisehart)
Siblings John H. "Big John", Rev. Bishop Solomon, Eli, Elizabeth "Betsy", Susannah "Susan", Paul, Lewis, Daniel and Catherine
Husband John Peter Strayer, Jr.
Children Solomon, Lucinda, William, Barbara Ann, Elizabeth, Paul, Susan, Lewis, John Eli, Benjamin, Catharine Jane, Jacob Benjamin and George B

Touché………a had a feeling that was coming … grin ….good discussion. beers

When it comes to "what people were worried about preserving"........I think we can probably all agree that there was a time period when what man was the most worried about was starving to death and getting eaten by a saber tooth tiger.....I really dont know how much historical record keeping would have meant to such people.

grin

I'm thinking only a select few were inspired to keep any record at all.

Don’t put any limits on God. Think of the most impossible thing you could ever imagine and God could do it in a billionth of a moment. Your questions are the questions of man. Not of God. The path is narrow. Scary but true. As far as dinosaurs or other universe’s….don’t know, don’t care. I try to only do what I am called to do and that is to point others to Jesus. That is hard enough! No time to ponder on questions of fools.
Yes it does take a lot of faith. I am blessed as that has not been a problem for me.
