pull your kids out of school sports. you don't need to be provided government funded sports. Every NFL team out there has a walk on program. coaches at high schools are not real coaches they are teachers that run a daycare program after school. What? That may be the most ignorant statement in the history of ignorant statements.

Well just think about this y'all are getting bent out of shape over kids chasing a ball! That's really all there is to most sports running around chasing a ball.lmao Kids even deep down into to it really don't care it's a game. But I get I'm hard core into stuff no one else understands either.lol but I sure ain't chasing a ball !!! My son defended anything anyone had to say about his crappy football coach cause he drank the cool aid. I just laughed it's a game Teach em a sport that could combine with survival skills or something constructive.ball games are a dog eat dog world with no constructive real world value other than holding hands and singing kumbaya

Parents are the worst part of youth sports. From the little guys all the way through high school. I have coached baseball and football in the past, and let me tell y’all, you have no right to sit back and second guess how a coach runs his program. Your right is to not participate. You aren’t in meetings, you aren’t in film rooms, you aren’t at practices (for the most part) and you aren’t privy to all the information that the coach is basing his decisions on. It is soooo easy to just sit back and critique EVERY EINGLE DECISION someone makes based on pure outcome. Just think if you had 10-120 people or more watching your job and criticizing every move. Just because your kid is involved doesn’t give you that right. If you don’t like it then don’t freaking play. Mjh97, it sounds like this guy is an idiot, but he’s the coach, you are the parent, and your kid is the player. So you parent. That’s your job. Coaching the basketball program isn’t. If basketball is such a high priority to your family, then you should have your kid at a school that is committed to having a good program. That’s your fault and no one else’s.
I apologize for being so outspoken about this. I just get tired of parents thinking that it’s ok to do what they do nowadays. If you are a high school coach you can’t win. Someone is always mad about something. And it’s usually the parent who don’t know their butt from a hole in the ground. I’m not saying that’s the case here, but it usually is.

Best I ever saw was the fences 1000 yards away from the diamond. Parents are the best and worst of youth sports. Pull your child if the coach is that bad.
Skinny is my EX.Alcohol was involved.

Kinda enjoyed sitting back and watching this develop. Went pretty much the way I thought it would. I was a JROTC instructor for fifteen years. Also was a Rifle Team, Drill Team, and Raider Team Coach for the entire time. Parents have an interest in school and activities only as long as it deals with their kid. No matter what they say their interests stop as soon as their kid is no longer involved. All kids in all aspects of school are simply temporary. They come and they go. If the teacher/coach can be patient the situation will remedy itself. There will always be another team next year. Don't expect the coach/teacher/principal to have the same interest in your kids as you do. They don't. Very well said!!! Two decades into teaching and coaching myself. Chose to be a coach because of my high school coach. Yes there are some coaches who are “bad” but I tell everyone all the time. COACHING is the only job in the world that everyone can do…not sure why everyone thinks they can but ok…. Parents have unrealistic expectations for the child and the coach for the most part. Hate that some of your children are in bad spots and no I do not have the answer or advice to help other than take it for what it’s worth it’s a high school sport 👍🏻

As an ex-high school baseball (head coach), football (assistant coach), and basketball (assistant/head coach), I would like to throw in my two cents. I'm JUST a teacher now, fyi. After reading all the comments, most everyone has made a valid point in some way or another. My experience goes like this...As a kid coming up through the little league ranks and then on to high school and beyond, I didn't like very many of my coaches. The ones I did like, didn't know the game very well (in high school). Most of the buttholes were very knowledgeable and had success. Moving schools or quitting was never even mentioned at my house. I was good at all sports and loved playing. So I played hard for every coach I had because I wanted to be the best (whether I was or not). The coach's personality or knowledge of life and how to do things never mattered to me or my parents.
When I was hired as a high school teacher/coach, I thought I needed to be tough! I wanted to be old school. I yelled and cussed (sometimes) and had some crazy antics. I had winning records as a head coach, but my ways were not accepted at my last coaching stop. The kids and parents didn't like my "old school" ways. Honestly, in my 28 year old head (at the time) and my 40-something year old head now, I thought/and still think they were a community of soft sissies. I resigned from that position and never coached again. I umpired instead. I umpired two high school state championships in baseball and had some t.v. time as crew chief for a Dixie Majors World Series championship game plate man. I saw a lot of good baseball, but only a handful of good coaches.
I said all of that to say this, many little league, travel ball, and high school coaches are idiots (I've seen a lot of ball playing/coaching). Many are young and have no idea of how to conduct themselves much less manage other people's kids (and parents). I surely didn't during my years as a high school coach. After watching other coaches both good and bad (through years of umpiring), I know just how wrong I was as a young coach. I knew the game and was FULL of fire and passion, but I didn't know how to deal with people. I would never coach again, but if I did, I'd take a much different approach to it than I did years ago.
As parents of young children and high schoolers, we get what we get for coaches. None of them will be perfect! Many are young and inexperienced at life and coaching. Others are old and stuck in their ways. These aren't professional coaches people. High school coaches are often regular Joes and are getting a teacher's salary (which is small) and a very tiny coaching supplement. Heck, there are idiots making millions as professional coaches.
As far as the principal and your coach being buddy-like, I'm sure there is a great chance they are buddies. Education in this state is highly political (for jobs). It is absolutely sickening watching the things that go on seeing who gets hired for what jobs. There are so many changes that need to be made in our state dealing with education, in my opinion. But the people in charge keep hiring like-minded individuals or puppets, and the cycle continues and gets worse. That's a different discussion though.

High school coach = your problem.
Lots of, not all, high school coaches have an attitude. Many are right out of college with their first job and they let it go to their head. I’ve known several that are good folks and I’ve known several that I wouldn’t pi$$ on em if they were on fire.
