Any home remedies? Seems like the last one I took to vet he didn't do anything and lived...

Probably copperhead or water moccasin, I've never seen any rattlers here all my life.

Dunno, never had that happen but would check with the vet. Neighbor’s dog got hit by a rattler a couple years back and took a good bit of antivenom to save him. Severity probably depends on several factors like how much venom, size and age of dog, etc.

Benadryl and a biscuit soaked in bacon fat was what we always gave our hunting dogs. Of course that was the 80’s and 90’s when folks (and dogs) were built different then.

When I worked at an emergency vet most snake bites were treated with an injection of diphenhydramine (Benedryl), an injection of penicillin (antibiotic) and an injection of dexamethasone (steroid). We did keep some antivenin on hand, though. This was also 17 years ago so the protocol may have changed.

Yeah there was some forced perspective in that photo because it looks 10 ft long but I held it above my head and it touched the ground. Probably right at 7ft. My wife didn’t go to the club with me anymore after we found that one

Hope your dog gets better. I know my FIL’s lab got hit by a water moccasin at the lake and Benadryl seemed to help

How big a dog? Seen a Great Dane get hammered by 2 rattlesnakes in the same summer. He made it fine with little care.

Gatorade and Benadryl. Always understood that swelling at the bite was good. No swelling, not so much. That always seemed to be th case with our hunting dogs.

I've had two of my dogs get bit and did fine.......just a lot of swelling and lethargic behavior ...I think a lot has to do with where the bite is located.......One of mine was on the nose and the other low on the leg.......One was a rattlesnake and the other was unknown though I think it was a moccasin because I killed one in the same area the following day.

I sure hope your dog makes it. I lost a catahoula last summer to a rattlesnake; 3 hours from bite to death; but she was bitten in the lower neck at or very near her jugular! We gave her Benadryl, but with no luck.

Decided to see if I can kill it and I've killed 2 water snakes in 30 mins in the branch leading to my pond.
