I have been delivering some for Door Dash to earn a little extra cash on the side. There will be a base pay from Door Dash, the TIP is for the driver to keep. The base pay is usually around $3. Without the tip it is not worth the time and gas to make the delivery. If there is no tip or low tip, I will decline the order and wait for something better.

Insurance companies are evil. I get older and so does my truck, and yet my rates never seem to go down.

One of my regular pizza stops charges 4% more for card use so when you pay cash it's cheaper. And yes the wait staff is tipped in cash and it's always a "Thanks for the tip." In reply.

I believe this is true. We don't have any food delivery way out here in the country where I live, but if we did I would tip pretty high considering what it's costing drivers to do their job with their own vehicle.

A lot of the apps now give you 3 choices at checkout ; 20/25/30%. Unless you manually change it.. And that is calculated on bill including sales tax

I'm through with eating out. Found myself in town at lunch, stopped in a decent Mexican restaurant, had a basic item off the menu, $26 by the time I got out the door. Not worth it.

What I wanna know is who in the world gets WH takeout? I can't imagine picking it up and taking it home and eating cold eggs and waffles and whatnot.

I have been in there and seen the kind that do that. Let's just say it is the kind with a very un-refined pallet.

My wife girl friend at the time back in the day was a waitress for a bit. I let her handle the tip, she knows what its like. If they are nice and dont mess up then 15% if they are more attentive then 20%. I dont want to have to look for them. There's a lot of jerks out there that dont get it and dont tip even when they get good service. Take care of your servers. But this auto tip added to your bill is bs. Were going out tonight for her birthday so we shall see.

I briefly worked as a waiter in college, and for quite a while delivery driving. Tips are earned. But at the same time, don't go to a sit down restaurant, order delivery, valet your car, or go to a strip club, if you can't afford to tip well.

Nowadays, I get a kick out of leaving people really substantial tips, when their service is exceptional. I always keep some cash on me for this reason.

I also have no shame in leaving no tip, if the service is terrible.

I worked in the full service restaurant industry through college. Customers would always sharp shoot servers and would barely get to 15%. The reality is the vast majority of customers are horrible. Extra this, extra that, need special sauce, think they’re the only folks in the restaurant, etc etc.

My only requirement is my tea glass stays full. If you can do that I'm a very good tipper. I have left $50+ tips for good service, but that's just my thing. You can just leave the pitcher if you want. If my glass does not stay full or it's a dude with a man bun you are gotting hosed. ...

I knew a guy who used to sit down at a Mexican restaurant and tell the waiter “more chippy, more tippy, no chippy no tippy.” If they kept the chips and salsa full, he tipped extremely well. If they didn’t, he wouldn’t give chit.

Bad service clear a spot on the table and leave a nickel. Didn’t t forget it…..Thought about it and this is what I thought. Good service gets the $$.

I was thinking about that this weekend. My family of four winds up just over $100 just about every time we go somewhere sit down. It’s just too much. I need to start paying attention and ordering water more when we do go out. I think drinks are their main money maker.
