Just a question we no till drilled plots yesterday into standing ceral grain fields. Also we didn't spray or bushog. We are trying to stay away from alot of chemicals and plowing. Anyone else have any luck With this type of planting? Pros and cons ?
Dr. James Woods has a lot of info about this strategy on his website, growingdeer.tv. I believe once they drill the seed they run a crimper over it to knock down the grain.

I found vetch in a mix at wilborns outdoors in cullman. It has peas, beans, buckwheat. millet, sorghum, vetch and other seed that I can't remember. I believe like 14 different seeds if I'm not mistaken for $50 for 59lb. I recently planted that at one of my leases. I’ve gotten to where I just use them exclusively. They let you prepay for fall mix and fertilizer and it saves a ton of money. Deer have hammered the stuff I get from there as well

If your cereal grains were thick enough to suppress weed growth then I'd think you should be ok.......If you have a lot already emerging then its likely gonna compete with what you planted.
