The last weed eater I had, I beat against an oak tree until it went to pieces because it wouldn't crank. Now I have no idea what kind my yard guy uses. All I know is I leave a check on the porch every other Tuesday and when I get home from work my yard is cut, edged, trimmed and blown.
What you do today, you have to sleep with tonight.

My dad’s husqvarna still runs like a champ. I am in the middle of a carb/bulb/air filter replacement job on it. That trimmer is 20+ years old.

Had the same Stihl powerhead for 20 years and it’s still kicking.

I got the Husqvarna and it has lasted 10 years with no problems. I don't put ethanol in it

For years have had the exact same results with weed eaters. Went to electric with the same results. Only difference is I didn't have to ice my shoulder after the electric went out. Bought a Husky homeowner version and it lasted 2 years. Bought an Echo 5 years ago and it is still running.

ford150man, you're doing something wrong. Great advice by other members. You say that but it’s not getting spark. Not sure how my maintenance of the weed eater would cause that.

I use Echo commercially. I prefer them to Stihl because Echo is easier for me to service if or when needed. I get 3-4 years of use out of most of them and that’s being used an estimated average of 3 hours every day. Use non-ethanol fuel.

Bought a Stihl commercial at least five years ago. The residential models are crap. Ours works great around the house, and I've used it in the woods where I hunt to cut paths and clear some areas. Chops stuff like ginsu knives on steroids.
I'll never buy a battery-operated or residential model again. I bought a battery leaf blower. It has the power of an 83-year-old COPD patient. It's fine to blow dust and leaves off the patio. Ain't worth a chit for anything in the yard. Our gas Stihl is a beast.

If you buy a Stihl and it doesn’t last you 5-10 years for residential use you are doing something wrong.
