Feller from Bridgeport, held the record a long time with 56 yarder kicked way back in '84. That was before Bridgeport and Stevenson combined into North Jackson.

He was player of the week against Scottsboro for kicking two over 50 yards in that game......It was a home game against Albertville that he broke the record though. He kicked it through the goal posts on the field house end. His name was Kevin Gentle. He signed with Auburn but never did well in college.

Aundray Bruce is the best athlete I ever played with. I played a lot of pick up basketball with him and he could have been a lottery pick in the NBA if he'd chosen that path instead of football. Absolute freak athlete but dumb as a rock which is why he didn't dominate the NFL after being the number 1 pick. He played for Carver in Montgomery and won the state basketball championship all 3 years he was there. Greg Page (wide receiver for Alabama) was the point guard on all those teams.

You know he may have actually kicked 5 field goals against Scottsboro that year......It shows us scoring 17 that night and I'm about 99% sure he kicked two over 50 yards that game......So we would have had to have gotten a safety and 5 field goals to do that and it seems like that's what may have happened.

Another reason AB couldn't make it in the NFL is he had little upper body strength. IIRC, he couldn't do 225 on the bench press.

Yes he is from Pensacola. The late Fred Levin had his hand in a lot of his deals coming up. I think Roy is lucky he grew up in a time before cell phone cameras, I do believe he might have been in some hot water with the roster fighting. Although some of the old home video of him out there training with the rosters is pretty cool to watch. He might have had the fastest hands ever in his prime.
