Joe's is still good but it's not as good as it was after ownership change.

Can’t base your “real” Italian food off of Olive Garden..

Bellinis (seafood risotto is my go to)
Giamarcos (have to make reservations a few weeks ahead if you are trying to go on the weekend)
Joes is good food wise more of a family atmosphere
Went to amore once wont go back

I feel the same... although I do like authentic Italian food I prefer my homemade lasagna and spaghetti. I don't care for a lot of basil and authentic has a good bit in it.

It is hard to beat a Stouffers lasagna though! Personally, if I want good spaghetti or meatballs or chicken parm, I will just make it myself. But obviously not what you are asking here. I know when I lived in Bham, it was hard to beat Salvatore's even though it is a no frills place.

Growing up with a Italian Grandad it was hard to find good Italian food outside of his kitchen.

We’re gonna make a trip one weekend and try one of those y’all suggested, but looks like we’re going to BIG Mikes in Moundville Saturday. Never been to it either.

Last two trips there for sporting events, we went to Bocca. It was good.
