Good Ole Leland.......

About 30 years ago I killed my first boar and I wanted him to mount it for me. He had mounted an 8-point I killed in Macon County the previous year and did a good job. When I took him the pig, he said he'd have it ready in 5-6 months. I was young and excited to get my mount back so at 6 months I go down there. I didn't call first, I just showed up one afternoon. He was pissed. He said "I told you I'd call when it was ready" and I told me it was no big deal I was just in the area and figured I'd stop by. He said it would be 3-4 months before he had it ready. I called about 4 months later and he said he hadn't had time to get to it and it would be another 3-4 months. I waited about 6 months and called again and got the same story. Keep in mind I was 20 or 21 and had no fuse at all at that point in my life so I reminded him of the original 5-6 months and he called me everything but a white boy. He said he'd have it ready in a few weeks and he'd call me. The day finally came (almost 2 years from when I killed it) that he called. Me and a buddy went down there to pick it up. When we walked in the shop there was a guy sitting in a chair behind the door. As we walked in he kicked the door closed and he had a pump action shotgun that he cycled after the door slammed closed. I asked what his problem was and he said that he was there to make sure we didn't cause any trouble. I laughed and walked to Leland and handed him my balance. He had the balls to say to both me and my buddy to make sure we brought him some deer to mount that fall.

Needless to say I don't use Leland for my taxidermy needs anymore.

That's talent right there. He and the guy that mounts the cross-eyed bobcats should have a taxidermy contest.

I’d tell him that if he insists on keeping my money that I’m going to donate that mount to the busiest processor in town so everybody can see his work.

Horrible mount regardless of what she paid for it.

My guess is she paid him $300 up front with the expectation of paying the balance when she picked it up, so she only paid $300 out of pocket.....he told her he was keeping $100 to cover the form he had to buy and she could get the $200 balance (from her original $300 deposit) from the processor that referred her
