I have a buddy wanting to buy my Browning BLR 308 caliber that I have never shot. I got this one from Skullworks about 15-20 years ago and I have never fired it. The gun is in great shape with only a few very light scuffs on it. No bad scratches, bluing loss, etc. I would rate it an easy 9 out of 10. I just want to know the value in case he makes an offer that I can’t refuse. It has the straight stock also.

Thanks in advance.

I can't stand a thief.

I’m not an expert. But, believe the straight stock denotes a BLR 81. They made several delineations of them, including a rifle length barrel and a carbine. Depending on year (1995-96 after), they may have an alloy receiver which some don’t like. Without knowing year, model, length, etc, I’d venture $600-900. Much like the 336 Marlins, they’re a hot item it seems these days. Family has a 81 BLR Carbine in 257 Roberts that I’m not sure could be bought. Love them, but the triggers aren’t the greatest.

$800 should be the low end on that with the way people are crazy about levers these days. I love’em but can only buy from people that don’t know how things have gotten. Some people don’t understand how many millions of well made lever action rifles were built over the last 150 years. There’s no scarcity when a fella can walk into 10 pawn shops and half will at-least have a pre Remlin Marlin 30/30. 3 or 4 will have a straight wall cartridge lever action. Maybe one or two .357 or 45-70 and a few 30/30’s JM stamped among them. .possibly a presafety JM of some sort. Fewer to be found are Winchesters. Anything .308 is rarer but, for whatever reason they really weren’t that popular in lever action.

.308 was because the BLR uses a box magazine, so spitzer pointed bullets didn’t matter in a tubular magazine rifle. Why the BLR allowed non conventional lever rounds to be chambered in a lever. 336 Marlin/ 1892/1895 limited to round nose rounds(until Leverevolution rounds) BLR could be chambered in pretty much any round, even magnums offered. Unless you want to get into the savage 99 which can be rare and even higher priced.

Gunbroker has them in .308 ranging from $900 to $1200 used without a Scope.

Looks like I was thinking a little low on the price. Thanks Folks.

This one just never fit me well so I never took it out of the safe. Going to my grandson I think now.

Mine is identical to Thread Killer's but in .358 Win. It is a Takedown. Gun shoots fine for that caliber. Trigger is better with age but still pretty bad.

Absolutely love the gun and would also be one of the last I would ever think about selling.

I might hunt with it a little.....You know.... it might not actually be for sale. You just may not know that yet.

Mine is a 1981 model -- the first year for the mostly flush magazine and the first year, I think, for Miroku production. It also has the heavy steel receiver. I'd lean toward the $1,000 mark if I wanted to sell.

Very rare and desirable; one went for $1775 + tax and shipping on GB.. And it has a little wear.
Only one has sold in last year on GB; almost new might go to $2k

I wondered if they might not bring a little more in that caliber.

Not really sure how you can base a value off a single or even a couple of Gunbroker sales..... people pay stupid prices on there daily. World is full of idiots who think a JM stamped Marlins and Remington Shotguns are something rare.

Pro Tip - if they sold it at K-Mart it ain't rare.
