Anyone caught involved with identity theft should be executed within 24 hours of conviction. There should be an option available that allows the victim to shoot the perpetrator in the head.

Here is a good article from Detroit about the time my identity was stolen and the guy tried to buy a car online and have it shipped. The owner of the dealership sniffed out something was up and found my phone number. He helped me take the guy down. I now keep a freeze on my credit. The guy had all of my info including a FL id with all my info except it had his black face. That was what got him busted. Apparently one of the guys fleed and it let to a high speed chase and a wreck.

I would like to find the person/persons who stole mine and show them how I feel about it.

My girlfriends IDENTITY was stolen over 20 yrs ago by a local piece of shucks and his piece of shucks girlfriend. The girl worked at a local funeral home and would get all of the information from recent death records and paperwork, give it to the guy who would then create email addresses, got their names put on her dads address as living there and he even got a marriage license with his name and my friends name on it. Then the posers had credit cards sent to a PO Box and they started running up the bills. Meanwhile my friend found out that she was married to someone she didn’t even know.the girl from the funeral home had posted as my friend. My friend had to Petition the courts for the married to be a nullified and it took quite some time to get everything stopped and corrected. Now when she files taxes she can’t use her SSN she has to use a code that was assigned to her. The fraudulent couple fled and don’t know what happened to them.

Thanks to credit monitoring and a few good credit cards that caught it my scammer didn’t get anything. He got ballsy though and started emailing me.

Everyone should go to the 3 credit sites and put a credit freeze on your credit, then when you need to apply for credit go online and open it for a day or two.

It can get really bad when some folks have to run around with a Not Me affidavit because of identity theft. Seen this a bunch back in the day. Not good. Bad people out there.

A couple of months ago, had a lady call to pay her bill over the phone. Gave the number, expiration date, and the three digit code on the back. Went through, didn't think anything about it. About two hours later, a guy in the state of Utah called wanting to know why we had charged his credit card........ Lost about $500 on that one.

Someone got in my debit card yesterday. It was used for 3 charges (about $70) at the Chantilly 13 movie theater, in Montgomery. I caught it that evening, when I look at my account online. No person to answer the phone at Trustmark Bank (corporation) after 8pm. It does have a messaging after hours. I messaged about it and to remove the charges. About an hour later, the charges were gone completely. I called this morning, first thing and talked to a representative. She said they removed the charges. I asked her if they could still get into my account? She said yes, I had to cancel card and they will send me a new one in 5 or 6 days. I hate a damn thief. I used my card at the Krystal that is just outside the Chantilly 13. I think someone there copied it or something (in the drive thru). Watch out if you go there.

If you have to take a card over the phone have them text or email you a picture of their ID. That isn't fool proof but it will stop 99% of theft charge backs.

I was wondering how to mitigate that since usually if you have the cvv code, you actually have the card in hand and not just the stolen acct number and expiration date, but I guess when folks steal the whole tangible card, then they have everything they need for paying online or over the phone and most of the time in person. I can count on one hand the number of times that I have been asked for an ID when paying with debit or credit cards.

First time I’ve had this issue. The owner of the credit cards sent me pictures of where the card was used at Walmart cellphone too for about $700. He prosecuted and I provided everything to authorities. But I doubt I’ll see any reimbursement.

How many get a receipt every time a CC is used ?
I do every time and I keep them for a month to check them against my account and to remember where I used them
It aggravates some cashiers but thats just too bad

My CC company emailed a couple of weeks ago about what they believed to be a fraudulent charge. I called them and it was. Something like 13:82 made in California to Walmart plus. They axed it. This has been the second time in about 5 years I’ve had 2 pop up. Both in California and Walmart involved. But the most recent one got me to checking my debit card. Same charge on it to Walmart plus. I call regions to take care of this one. But my CC and debit are from different places. And most places that have info on both are where they are used for bill paying.

Never use a debit card for any transaction unless you have to. Use a credit card with fraud prevention measures. Gas pumps and any large chain store are always the worse for card number theft. Tourist towns are notoriously bad cause they know folks aint going to drive 8 hours back to complain in person by the time they find the fraud.
If there is a fraud the Credit Card company can usually handle it and money never comes out of your bank account.
