Hopefully one of these pictures will work. Curious if $800 is a decent deal. Some noticeable wear on the barrel but these are hard to find and I can a gunsmith spruce it up. Chambered in .44 magnum Comments? ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/zv8zvrFx/20230801-120422.jpg)

I been looking for one for a year. If it locks up tight and the bore is good Iβd pay that for it. Like James said, Iβd invest in some wood grips

Thanks Guys, agree on the grips, not sure whos' bright idea it was to replace the originals! I've bought several that had those through the years, that was first thing folks done was swap em with those because they were recoil sensitive π But seriously made for longs days at shoots and the range more comfortable for folks, but they're bulky as hell and not comfortable to me and i don't have small hands. But the hogues are way better...

Yeah, all good points. I was thinking of the nostalgia of the Dirty Harry Gun. If I bought for 800 including taxes I'm probably in for another $300 to $400 for grips and gunsmithing. I may just have to pass on this one.
Thanks All!

From what I recollect, the -3 has the endurance package, which is good. Easy enough to check and see if there's a transfer bar under the side plate. Looks to be a plain jane production 29, not a performance center or limited run. My first 29 was a nickel plated 8 3/8" similar to what was post. I don't own a 29 anymore, but own quite a few 629s (-4/-5/-6/-8). While S&Ws 44s tend to hold their value, this model doesn't look to have a replaceable front sight and the orange insert is missing. There is noticeable wear, but that can be remedied with a quality bluer. I typically will cruise gunbroker and see what used 29s are being sold for. Given the wear and knowing they probably paid a whole lot less for it than what the tag says, I'd be tempted to walk in with six (no more than seven) one hundred dollar bills and see if they'll deal. 29-3 would be 1983-87; don't think they had Performance Center then. Endurance package would be marked 29-3E. Be prepared to drop $100+ for period correct wood grips; which would not have matching numbers. DIY re-bluing will improve looks; but not improve value much; if any.

It's sort of like paying $1,000 for a Remington 870 Wingmaster... They made a lot of them and just about everyone I know has one. I think the $600 suggestion is where I would start as well on this one pictured. If you can't make a deal pass on it. Most of the fun in this for me is finding the deal so I can wait. Hit a couple gun shows.
