It's extremely basic and simple to back date the age of the earth using the genealogies and dates of known events. God didn't have to say "on this day the earth was exact x years old" because he gave us very easy outlines to get to it. Either you have to believe the entire Bible is true and accept the Genesis account as literal, or you don't really have any basis to believe any of it. It's all or nothing.

So easy it only took 1500 years for someone to do the math.

Skinny, this is the first thing that pops up
[Linked Image]
Its "mostly" accurate. That pretty much means if you test the same rock twice, itll give you two different dates. If there is any literature on any form of dating that is accurate, not usually works, i would sure like to read about it. Joe, all you have done in this thread is belittle people. Thats pretty shameful. Atleast Skinny tried to answer the question i asked. And like i said, if anyone could provide an article about a dating method that actually works and is accurate every time it is used, i sure would love to read it. Until then its just theoretical, which means a guess, and my guess is as good as the next guys.

Where do you get that 1500 year date?

So according to the link nobody can date a rock younger than 6000 years old but they can accurately tell us how old one older than that is. No proof of course since nobody was dating rocks 6000 years ago. Again this is all 100% theory and nobody has any proof.

Thats what somebody told him. You could do the math yourself in about 15min.

I have. That's why I'm trying to figure out where he's getting it from. 1500 years ago people didn't care how old the earth was to debate it because they weren't stupid enough to believe something could come out of nothing. Even the idea of changing you gender makes more sense than that

No they didn't because they know it would not work. Radiocarbon dating only works on things older about 150 years to 75,000 years. Not sure where you got that info from, but its completely not true and impossible.

That info for TL dating is also wrong. TL dating works on the same principle that a Quartz watch works on. The watches we all used before digital. It has to do with the last time the quartz crystal was heated above 600 celsius. When a quartz crystal is heated up to that point it undergoes an alignment in the structure which sets the clock. That alignment breaks down and also can direct electrons at a predictable rate. That predictable rate is how a quartz watch operates. The rate of the predictable breakdown can also be measured which is how it works with dating. TL dating is only good for things with quartz (silica) crystals in them that have been heated above 600 celsius. It is also limited to things older than 200 years but can go back as far 500,000 years.

That one method does not work well for young rocks because the isotopes for potassium have a very long half-life. It takes a couple million years for enough of the daughter isotopes to be produced to be accurately measured. Carbon-14 has a relatively short half-life and CAN be used for dating some materials (not everything has carbon to start with) that overlap with when people were around. Assigning ages to earth's history is not based on one set of isotopes. Some only work for recent materials, some only work for older materials.

A lot of folks think dating of "old things" is something that can be done instantaneously in the field with a cell phone size gadget and you get instant results. For an average C14 date, if its a rush job, is at best 36 hours. Most times its 3 weeks. TL dating takes about 8 weeks. KAr takes longer.

Nah, he was just a hairy dude. There are some pretty hairy dudes and women in the Middle East today, some of those Iraqi and Iranians could pull off a gorilla costume easy. If remember right the original "Bearded Lady" was Syrian.
Neanderthals had similar body hair to us but their clothes were made out of hairy animal hides, like what the Eskimo used to wear up until the modern age.

Yes,it is a trace amount in most Europeans and some Middle Eastern populations. That amount was from the mixing period time of about 65,000 years to 30,000 years ago. It is a very small amount. Essentially the same equivalent of a piece of straw in a lumber yard.
That information was discovered while doing a macro test of human DNA and it quickly took over all the important information that the macro-test was supposed to show.
Its a classic case of the single diamond found in a field of coal, everybody stops mining the coal and starts looking for diamonds then they wonder why coal is so dang expensive.
