I can only put 4 beers in my pockets so I've found a backpack handy.

Gun rope with treble hook, limb snips, limb saw, head lamp, binos, toboggan, face mask, grunt call, poncho, water, spit bottle A rope with a treble hook? Just in case a sheepshead swims by your tree? I sometimes take a pack if I'm going to be there for a long time. Bino, water, snacks, drag lines, marking tape, maybe a phone charger if I'll be there all day, and chit I probably don't need. If the weather's cold or rainy, I'll have appropriate duds. And other times if I'm going to be on a short hunt, I'll shove a haul line or marking tape and light in my pockets and just go.

I carry a backpack only on public land hunts or new sits on ground I haven’t hunted before. I typically have a bottle of water/snack, rattling antlers, range finder, flashlight with extra batteries, extra bow release, handheld limb snippers, hot hands, toilet paper, and a few other things. When I’m hunting a stand I’ve hunted before there’s not much need for a lot of that stuff, and I can cram a lot in my pockets. On new hunts, which I’ve done a lot of in the last few years, a small backpack is invaluable. Same here. I use to just cram my pockets full but that just became to bulky and couldn’t get out what I needed sitting down.

You can't use it if you ain't got it.....
This is what it really boils down to. And I also operate under the "I'd rather suffer a little discomfort on the walk in / out, and have the comforts of home in my tree" method. Actually, this will be the first year I've ever used a " backpack". I've used a larger-than-usual shoulder bag for the last 30+ years (a large pack with a single strap I'd put over one shoulder and around my neck)....this allows it to hang on my front when I walk in / out. 99.99999% of my hunting has been with a climber, so I can't use a pack that goes on my back. And I know some guys stuff a pack in their climber, but it's been easier for me to distribute the weight more evenly (pack on front, stand on back). I grew up stalk hunting (we just slipped around, did man drives, etc), so I never took anything with me (except extra ammo and knife) back in those days. But in my early 20's when I started "stand hunting", that's when I started carrying a bag. I stuff extra clothes in my climber, and my pack would have tons of stuff: Headlamps, flashlights, batteries, knife, ink pen, hot hands and toastie toes, facemasks, gloves, extra release for my bow, extra boxes of ammo, rangefinder, binos, cell phone, charger pack for cell phone, small screw in hooks, big Realtree screw in hanger(s), pull up rope, carabiners, shoulder length gutting gloves, insulated drink (like coffee), bottle water or other "cold" drink, pnut butter crackers, sandwich(s), bright eyes and other type markers, orange flagging tape.Believe it or not, I haven't even owned a grunt call (or rattling horns) in 20 years or more. I'm venturing into the world of saddle hunting this upcoming season, so I've bought a backpack. I'll put all the same stuff in it as above, but I'll also need to pack clothes in it. And I need the backpack to attach my climbing sticks and platform to. I know very few hunters, aside from guys who just "go sit on the ground somewhere", who don't carry a pack of some size/type.

Toilet paper, grunt call, knives, garbage bags, hand warmers, change of socks, lighter, small first aid kit, some emergency rations, parachute cord, flash light, batteries, charging pod/flashlight that can charge cell phone, zip ties. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things, but there is still enough room in the backpack to carry 2 hind quarters, 2 backstraps, and 2 shoulders. I put them in the garbage bags, let the feet stick out of the top, and zip tie the zipper closed. I'll never drag another deer out of the woods even on a game cart.

I carry wet wipes now instead of TP. Unscented, like from Wildlife Research, or the DG. They're more efficient, and if you kill something and have blood all over you they help with cleanup better than dry TP.

Now we are talking! We’re getting to those gear jacks everyone can get behind! But in all seriousness I was thinking about doing this. Dude wipes sales individually packaged flushable wipes, I was thinking about throwing a few in my hunting pack and keeping them in the truck.

Wildlife Research makes wipes in a little pack just like the quick-carry baby wipes and they're unscented. Baby wipes or DG wipes or whatever kind of wipes like that are available just about anywhere in a DG. Cheaper, different size packs, etc. Toss in a backpack, truck pocket, etc., and go. I haven't tried Dude Wipes. I guess they're ... bigger, like a paper towel? Dunno. A company I ran across last year -- Klean Freak -- is veteran-owned and has some great products. I met and talked with the owners at a show last summer. They were in service in Afghanistan and said everyone there enjoyed, when possible, being able to clean up with at least a baby wipe of some kind. When they got home, they wanted to create a business and did. Klean Freek makes a variety of wipes in scented, unscented, sizes and for different uses. The wipes STAY MOIST in the packs, unlike baby wipes that can dry out. This is their site -- https://www.kleanfreak.com/I take these in my pack when traveling so I can clean up in an airport if I get delayed, or if my luggage doesn't arrive, or if I need to otherwise clean or wipe something. That said, IMO the cheap baby wipes at DG work fine for inexpensive hunting pack poopin' and such.

Gun rope with treble hook, limb snips, limb saw, head lamp, binos, toboggan, face mask, grunt call, poncho, water, spit bottle A rope with a treble hook? Just in case a sheepshead swims by your tree? Hunt with a 9 year old enough, and you will need it too. Drop a glove, face mask, etc. lower the gun rope with treble hook and pick it up. Don’t have to climb down.

I don’t like using my climber with all of my clothes on, so a lot of times I’ll have my bibs or jacket strapped to the backpack. Inside it, I usually have a couple bottles of water, some snacks a flash light and headlamp, my gloves, a boggan or hat, a pack or two of hot hands, my limb saw, binos, a plastic bag that has a lighter and some ibuprofen and chapstick, my phone, a knife, my screw ins that’ll hold my back pack once I climb up. I use to have a external battery pack for my phone, I think I’ve lost it or need to find another one.
It really doesn’t take up much space, isn’t that heavy and isn’t hard. Worse case, if I fall and get hurt way out maybe I’ll be as comfortable as I can until they find me. Best case, I’m able to carry a whole box of Christmas tree cakes if I want
The fool tells me his reasons; the wise man persuades me with my own.
