The general public will likely never have access to it. At one point it required specialized feeders to ensure only hogs could access the bait.

"Cull" is just another four letter word...

I guess landowners will sign up with the USDA or something to allow them access???

They've had it a long time. The biggest obstacle was the delivery method.

In the article they keep saying that this bait makes them fall asleep. Is this the PC way of saying they die, or do you literally have to see them eat the bait track them to where they fall sleep and kill them? If that’s the case doesn’t seem very effective way to control the population.

The chemical cuts the oxygen to their blood, so they get sleepy and go to sleep and suffocate. It's how LSU is marketing it as "humane".

They’ve had this for a long time. From my understanding it’s a no go because there is 1 species of song birds that it will kill.

Not new but evidently has some issues because it has never been for sale since its introduction years ago. Seems like a great idea though

I’d like to have some. Some dumb bastards up around my property have been catching them and raising them then turning the damn things loose. I caught some last year that had been cut already. Got rid of them and now a new group has shown up.

Was listening to a Game Keepers podcast and they were saying the biggest hang up they are having is how to kill the hog but not the critter that eats the dead hog. And how 99% it’s safe to accidentally ingestion it’s the 1% that matters the most.

We need to thin pretty much everything that would eat the dead hog so sounds like a win win
