I have a 1997 1070 and I am leaking hydraulic fluid from my cylinder on my bucket.. I know nothing about tractor repairs. Is this an easy fix? Or is it something that will have to be done at the dealer?

Pretty easy to put a seal kit in. Youtube can help you. If you don't wanta DIY, take the cylinder off and take it to a Hydraulic shop.

Or is it something that will have to be done at the dealer? It sounds like the cylinder needs to be rebuilt/repacked. I’m not saying you can’t do it, but most people don’t have the right tools. Any hydraulic shop can do it and that’s what the dealer would do most likely (send it out to the hydraulic shop).

Fairly easy to do, or it is to me. See what brand and model your front end loader is, and Google that brand model seal kit. Unhook hydraulic hoses from cylinder and plug hoses to keep oil from leaking. I normally loosen the cylinder end cap while the cylinder is still attached to tractor/FIL. Have bucket under cylinder end cap because hydraulic oil is going to come out. Pull pins or bolts from cylinder end and rod end and remove entire assembly. Pull rod out of cylinder. I use a large Vice to grip end of cylinder where pin or bolt goes through as putting cylinder wall in Vice may damage wall. Take pictures of seals, take seals off and replace. Put back together, refill tractor to correct level of hydraulic oil, operate lift, and then check oil level again and add oil to tractor. God a Bless, David B.
