Well put. Deer are individuals and there is no definitive answer to what they will do or why they did it.

You definitely see excursions and yearling bucks transitioning home ranges but deer, for the most part, tend to stay in areas they’re most familiar with and feel safest.

Most areas have very poor habitat yet the deer choose to stay there despite the lack of resources. Otherwise, these massive timber company tracts of thousands of acres wouldn’t have hardly any deer unless of course there was a lot of recent harvesting.
