I like seeing dogs in public places except for the grocery store and indoor restaurants. I think it makes it a more laid back type of place. Unless it’s a pitbull, Rottweiler, or some yappy non-sporting puntable breed. Then I jump onto Johnny loco’s side of the fence.

This is what I'm saying. I don't really have a problem with them being there. I just don't understand the thought process that says, hey I think I'll take my dog shopping, he'll love that ! Mine enjoys the quiet time and the good nap she gets while I'm gone. Hopefully she's watching out for the place until I get home.

Actually it does have something to do with the thread. I’ve seen folks “friendly” dogs jump up un many elderly folk being “friendly” and the nails draw blood on their fragile skin.

Is that ok, not in my world jack. A dog has no business making unsolicited contact with people that don’t want it.

But these humanizing, disrespectful mental retards don’t care whatsoever.

Honestly, I don't think we have ever taken ours anywhere except into Tractor Supply or the other pet stores I mentioned earlier and one particular other non-food retail store that my friend is the manager of and she has from time to time had one of her dogs up there between the vet clinic and going home for the day. But as I said before I don't have a huge issue with them being in public if they are well behaved and quiet. But, my least favorite place to see one that is just someone's pet is in a restaurant or grocery store.

I remember being in the Subway on the bypass in Andalusia one day when they were in the space that Tropical Smoothie is now and a family came in and the mom was carrying a lap dog of some kind and I was waiting for someone working in there to say something about her needing to take it back outside but no one ever did. I was rather surprised.

We don't allow ours to jump up on us much less other people and part of the training they have had is to keep their feet on the ground altogether because we had small grandkids that we didn't want scratched.

But, I would hate to be wound so tight as some of you guys are when seeing a dog out in public unless you had a traumatic experience with a dog at some point. But, I have known kids who have been bitten by dogs that don't have such a negative reaction to dogs as some of y'all do.

I don't think one should take a dog, any kind, into a grocery store or restaurant . I sometimes take Chief to Tractor Supply or rarely to a Pet Mart. He heels right beside my leg and behaves himself. I'm VERY conscious of folks near him.

I had him in the truck one time during the deadly lockdown pandemic at Bessemer WallyWorld. They had a half dozen FAT black employees out front making you walk in a line in and out. I saw em as I walked to the door(without dog)...said hell no and went and got Chief out. He was leashed and heeling as we approached the door. At 30 yards ALL of the ran into the store. LOL Chief and I entered where we wanted, quickly shopped, and left where we wanted. No door monitors in sight while we were there......and no badasses tried to kick him....WTH????

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

What about going to tractor supply makes someone want to take there dog? Do the dogs get something out of it?

Bass pro is another dog friendly place. My little mutt LOVES Bass Pro ever since he first went and rounded a corner coming face to face with a stuffed wild boar. Good times. I don't take him to the grocery store or restaurants but he does visit Lowe's and Tractor Supply on occasion. Most people don't seem to mind him, in fact, many are glad to see him. Haven't run into an a$$wipe, anti-dog retard yet.

After reading this whole thread y’all have inspired me. I don’t have a dog, however my wife has a nasty cat I can use. I’m gonna put a harness on him and head to Lowe’s. Now he better not get bit by a dog because that is not providing a safe environment to cats and they better not discriminate against that cat because it ain’t a dog. If I get by with this I’ll borrow other animals and keep trying. Maybe a goat. And then a rabbit. The rabbit should be a hoot.

If your wife's cat kicks a small dog's butt there's gonna be trouble, LOL.

I don't take mine restaurants or grocery store.mine only go to state parks and stuff like that
But I can guarantee you he is behaving and doing exactly what I want him to do.rottweilers are easiest breed to train
But I'd still rather see a dog than a person in a restaurant.

I'll agree with PTSD and therapy dogs.i have zero hard feelings or complaints about a dog in a restaurant especially for military vets or therapy dogs.happened a few weeks ago but I wasn't really happy with way guy treated his dog.just new he was a veteran but he didn't thrill me with how he treated him.

My Rottweiler is smarter than most people and very loyal.i treat him like a toddler don't care if you don't understand.
If I take on a pet it will be taken care of.

I bet the people on here that don't like dogs or have problems with them in public are the same people who put dogs out on a corner road without any conscious.id stomp a mud hole in you putting out a pet you took responsibility of

I would pay good money to see Johnny stumble up on Fred and Chief in a tractor supply and try to start some crap over it. Someone set that up
