Looking like a Good Ole Aldeer dog hunt coming for Us. I will be there and my Son got picked too. I think they assign stand for the Dec. 29-30 Buck only hunt. I Hope that is the way the State handles it and Hope that is is organized. Good luck to all on Blue Springs Dog hunt and hope it is a blast.

I keep hearing different things regarding if we need to bring dogs or if the state is handing that.

It’s not an organized hunt. Go where you want. Best bet is try to catch on with a dog crew but you gonna need radios to keep up. Other than that, try to pick you a good spot and hope someone runs a shooter within shotgun range of ya

take your kids hunting and you won't be hunting your kids

I was originally alternate status for cedar creek but then got upgraded to hunter. Do I need to do anything further? I wasn’t seeing a place to.

Make sure to click to accept the hunt. Then sit back and wait for scouting date and unit assignment.

If you have a alternate spot is this when you will receive a email if you get a spot as well. Or has that time come and gone

No. You could get changed from Alternate to Hunter as late as a few days before a scheduled hunt. At least, that's been my experience. My son was upgraded for a youth deer hunt a couple years ago and literally got a phone call asking if we wanted to take the spot when another hunter canceled.

Drew unit 12 at uchee creek . Kinda sucks it's the unit with the kiosk. Hopefully it's covered up in giant bucks.

I tracked a deer for a guy on Uchee last year and the whole section he was in had just been heavily thinned. Whoever draws that this year ought to have some awesome hunts.

I have units 1 and 2 on cedar creek on the October 14-17 buck only hunt. Any i do on the unit greatly appreciated. As we as tips on what to hunt that early for mature bucks. I’m more of a meat hunter so don’t have as much experience trying to hone in on a mature buck.

I hunted unit 8 two years ago for a primitive hunt. The guy in unit 6 killed a good one right before dark and I helped him drag it out.

Unit 1 has strips of hardwoods surrounding lots of thinned pine acres. Unit 2 has a decent mix of hardwoods and pine and some acres of young planted pine that should be great early season bedding cover. I'd be looking for acorn trees along the edges of the pines along the old firebreaks. Those units are way up in there on the north end, so bring a UTV if it has rained in the last 3 or 4 days, or if its supposed to rain while you are there.

You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?

I drew a unit at Cedar Creek in October. Is it one hunter per unit? I assume so but wondered if anyone knew for sure.

I am assigned units 1 and 2 at Cedar Creek for Nov14-17. Are there any hogs there? Where I hunt in Coffee County the hogs have about cleaned out the acorns by then so there's not much use hunting white oaks at that time. Also would you recommend using trail cameras and would it be better to use a cell camera or traditional camera? Last question: Can you bring a lock on to hang for the hunt dates and remove it on the last day or is it climber only?
