I've been selected for a Cedar Creek early rifle doe hunt and a Portland landing, opening week of bow, buck only hunt. I'm a primarily a meat hunter so I'm leaning to Cedar Creek but my question is does Cedar Creek have a thick hog population?

Man if I had a chance to buck hunt a place that hadn’t been fooled with yet… I’d jump in that. You can kill a doe with your car on the way home after you shoot a buck at Portland.

Portland Landing would be my choice all Day and everyday. To Get a chance there on opening weekend of bow season without the deer being pressured should give You a great chance at a shooter.

If you’re a meat hunter so kill a limit if does with your rifle at Cedar and a hog or too. I don’t know how “thick” the population is there but I had several on camera there last year. If you want a chance a buck and watch fresh back walk around you while you can’t do anything, go to Portland.

You’re crazy if you don’t go to Portland

I was mistaken. I'm an alternate for the opening bow hunt at Portland Landing

I could have shot a 115-120” buck with my bow at 12 yards at Portland landing opening bow bunt about 4 years ago, but decided to let him walk. I did see several 130” deer on a big clover field that I could t get in bow range.

If you're a meat hunter, and you're wanting to shoot a buck, you'd better learn how to age bucks on the hoof! PL is the best.
