Just a guess but Milroe was probably banged up good being the reason Buchner got the start We will most likely see Milroe start Saturday since the other two are banged up now Whats wrong with simpson? I dint know he was hurt?
The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

I dint know he was hurt? The better question is what is right with Simpson ? You can count on Kiffen playing the same blitz game all day since it has worked so well so far and Simpson cant handle it and neither can Buchner Milroe is the only one with the feet to do anything about it and really wont do that well if the O-line keeps playing the way they do Once again I wont be surprised if the Tide loses again
When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself The older I get the better I used to be

Y’all are reading into this too much. Those players aren’t going to play bad on purpose just because they want a different QB. They are all trying to do this for a living. They want to play in the NFL. They aren’t going to look bad on national tv just because they want another guy to play. 99% of them are HIGHLY competitive guys that hate to lose at anything. Not just the game, but the games within the game. The o line is getting raked by the media big time and I guarantee you these guys are taking it personal. No way they are sucking on purpose. This. Of course, the fault in the logic of this scenario is that, as someone pointed out, they didn't block any better for Milroe.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Y'all need to remember that Simpson was and evidently has been, third string. That means that up until this past week, he was getting very few, if any reps with the 1's and if Buchner started, he most likely got the majority of the reps with the 1s, this past week, once the decision was made. So from the time they left fall camp, the projected starter, Milroe, gets 60-70% of the 1 reps with the number 2 guy, Buchner, (still shocked that Saban picked him up in the portal as bad as he was at ND) getting the other 30% or so of reps with the 1s for the previous 3 weeks. If Buchner is the #2 guy, he gets a portion of the ones and the lions share of the reps with the 2's, with Simpson getting just a small cut of those reps with the 2s. I actually think he looked decent, considering the above as well as the fact that it was his first live college game and the first game he's played in since high school. Made a couple good throws, stayed calm, handled a bunch of crappy snaps with a wet ball and did not put it on the ground, and most importantly, he did not make any stupid mistakes, stupid throws and turn the ball over. If I was Saban, I'd go into this weekend with Simpson as my game manager QB, and I'd tell that sorry OC Rees, to have Milroe ready to go and to have a bunch of new single read, RPO stuff and designed QB runs specifically designed take advantage of Milroes speed and athleticism.

Well said...Exactly what I thought the other day about Milroe running the Wildcat, Notre Dame Box, Wing T...Hell anything,,,, I would throw a few wishbone plays in the mix too.... ![laugh laugh](/forum/images/graemlins/default/laugh.gif) The guy is built like a linebacker with RB speed and good moves and agility....Run Him!

Saban said on noon presser that JM is the starter. I'm fine with that cause it ain't gonna make a diff if the line dont start blocking better. I hope jace mcclellan is benched for the year and if any of the olinemen were purposefully whiffing on blocks...they're benched for the year. I will correct Abolt a little...Simpson played some garbage snaps last fall and threw a pass or 2. "2022 Played in four games, completing 4-of-5 passes for 35 yards. Utah State: Entered in the final minutes of the game ... went 1-of-2 for 10 yards in his debut. ULM: Came in late at quarterback as the Tide ran down the clock. Vanderbilt: Completed his lone pass attempt for a gain of five yards. Austin Peay: Finished 2-of-2 passing for 20 yards against the Governors."

While Milroe might have said the right things in interviews after the TX loss, the rumors going around over the weekend and this morning is that he got himself permanently benched for the USF game, as punishment for his attitude and mouth after the Texas loss. Basically, Saban put him in a 7 day time out to get his head on straight. The one positive thing that did come out of the USF game is that Bama will now, hopefully, no longer waste any more practice snaps or time on or with Buchner. If Milroe puts the the ball on the ground a couple more times or throws it directly to a DB or two this Saturday, you'll see Simpson come off the bench. Bama is not good enough this year to overcome unwarranted turnovers and still win.
Knowing that Milroe cant read anything and that the o-line is slow and soft, I'm sure Kiffin is licking his chops and can't wait for gameday to get here. Watch for Kiffin to bring the pressure every passing down, while disguising coverages and baiting Milroe into making some dangerous/stupid throws. It has the potential to be ugly, if he is not adequately prepared for it. I sure wish Kiffin was back at OC instead of Rees.

They played bad on purpose. Didn't want to show anything No Sir it was because certain players want Milroe back as starter.............. Horse crap. They played like crap when he was in the game vs. UT. They played like crap no matter who was taking snaps. Receivers care about getting touches. No matter who’s throwing it. Just for the record,,,my comment was 100% sarcasm
You haven't been blocked until you've been flock blocked!!!

Teams are rushing 3-4 guys and accomplishing that goal. So imagine playing QB and having 7-8 guys covering your 4 receivers and you are trying to throw to the open one in a dirty pocket, or flushed out before you even set your feet. You don’t even have time for your receivers to run their mid level routes on 3rd and long. This O line is full of second team preseason All SEC players. Surely they can get better. If they can just protect a little bit, I think everyone will see the QB play improve. I’d roll that horse out and let him do his thing. Let his athleticism create some opportunities.
