I have a Makita battery saw and it works fine I have cut some big stuff with it (within the bar length limit), however it is not a real chainsaw. You can't just cut whatever you want with any saw the bar length limits you.

If you have to do any serious cutting you will have more $$ in the required batteries to run that thing all afternoon than you would a real chainsaw. With a real saw you pour in more gas it and it keeps cutting.

Get an Echo, run straight gas in it and run it out of gas every time you use it and it will last forever. Much longer than a bunch of batteries.
