I have a bee smoker that I use to cover myself with smoke. I can’t seem to get anyone else to try it. Think about this…. If you smell smoke, can you smell anything else? Smoke is also kills bacteria. Keeps my smell down, as well as being one of, if not the most effective “nose jammer” smell in the world.

I’ve killed 2 mature bucks, downwind, while using smoke as a cover. I had 5 rack bucks, at different times, within 30 yards of me in MO one morning last year. I was hunting from the ground and all were within 30 yards. But using smoke as a cover scent is just silly, right?

I was hunting near the water on Smith Lake. Guy would blow leaves every Saturday am but the deer was use to it and paid no attention. A ridge ran behind me and if the deer ever came out above me I was busted. Didnt matter how scent free I tried to be. Thermals always came up off the lake in the am. One morning dude lights those leaves and I was about to choke from smoke. I thought I might as well climb down because deer will be fleeing this forest fire. Luckily a doe came in off the ridge, walks right past me and never smelled me headed towards the smoke. Light bulb went off. I ended up seeing several deer, a coyote, and a fox all downwind. Never knew I was there. From that day forward I smoked clothes and even though its not fool proof because nothing is, Ive seen many more deer from downwind without getting blown out. Not fool proof because I have been blown at, however much better.
Fast forward several years and asked some friends who I will just say is "in the Industry" and were very well know amongst the TV hunting crews. I was told if your not smoking your not even in the game. Also told me all that product they push on TV was laughable because most smoke their clothes. They even told me they smoke their bait sites in the same manner as you do Fur. Ive had buddys try it but give up, got some that sold out to it still. I will say I try to wash clothes in scent free detergent and bath in scent free soap before a hunt, then apply smoke. Has saved me $ because a lighter is cheap smile

Its not the will to win but the will to prepare to win!
