So I've been having shoulder problems for a couple of years now, and my orthopedic Dr told me my shoulder was wrecked with 5 different things wrong with it and recommended a replacement. I told him I was not doing that until I just had to. With all the other stuff wrong with me it would be like fixing the brakes on a truck with a blown engine. He set me up for cortisone shots every other month and I became really careful about how I used the shoulder, switching to doing a lot of stuff left handed.

So I knew I could never bowhunt again and put my Matthews DXT up for sale, planning to buy an Xbow. I had a good bit of interest and almost worked out a trade, but it fell through. Nobody ever bought it so I just forgot about it. Then I found that a year of being careful with my shoulder resulted in it feeling a lot better. I tried to shoot the bow a while back and found i can easily draw it back! Anyway, I am getting my gear ready and going on a bow hunt Thursday and Friday. I probably won't kill anything, but praise the Lord that I can go try! I will hate myself if I actually kill a deer and have to deal with it, but I'm going anyway.

PS - I think my Dr is a quack. smile

That’s great Mr Steve! I still remember a good buck you killed with your bow that was posted here. Maybe an opening day buck? Had to be 10 or so years ago.

If you build the muscle around the damage it gets better. I had to deal with a slight rotator tear.

Thanks for all the replies!

No doubt about which deer you are talking about; I've only killed one decent buck with a bow in my life. He only had 8 points, but was nearly 22" wide and 128 was the highest scoring deer ever legally killed on our place. I thought he would surely break 130 when I shot him, but one side wasn't as good as the other. I'm impressed that you remember it! I think it was closer to 15 years ago than 10.

This is one of the best threads I’ve opened in a while. I’m really glad to hear your shoulder is s feeling better and you’re gonna be able to get that DXT back out in the woods where she belongs. Good Luck PCP!

Great news. What poundage do you shoot ? Listening to Ted Neugent on Fist Full of Dirt podcast, he only shoots around 50 lbs. Think his wife gets complete pass throughs on big exotics with like 42 lbs. I wish I had time to bow hunt. I bought a crossbow last year and still haven't shot it. Figured I could get in the woods without spending a ton of range time. Still hanging in my camo room.
