We were in Canada and it walked 10 yards from us and stopped behind a tree. It sensed something wasn’t right and got out of there. Made me sick to not get a shot or pic. The guide stated he had never laid eyes on one which made me even sicker. Just glad my son was there to witness it so I knew I wasn’t hallucinating.

[I was the Game Biologist on Eglin AFB in the early 90's and have worked in the Natural Resouces field for the Air Force in NW Florida for over 30 years (retired last Dec). There were never any confirmed mountain lion sightings on Eglin during the early 90s or any time since. Same as everywhere else, occasionally someone would report seeing one. Never any hard evidence. We're a long way from the known population of Florida panthers in south Florida. [/b]

If your a green field guy or hunt 300 yards off roads in your “honey hole” you ain’t gonna see the elusive cats and bigfoots that are 100% in our woods well I shouldn’t say won’t just not real likely

watched one slip down a creek bank about 20 years ago from around 400 yds away in Madison county. Me and my dad both watched it through binoculars. We both concluded it was a mountain lion with a long curled tail probably around 80-100lbs. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Someone post up a trail cam pic or any real evidence there is one or has been one in Alabama. You constantly hear about them and people will get fighting mad but they never have any proof. I don't care if we have them or not, I just do not understand why people get so defensive over something that has never been confirmed to my knowledge.

Never seen one myself but I know here in northern Blount county back in the 70s everyone was reporting seeing them. If I remember right there was an article in the Advertiser gleam out of Guntersville about it. One thing I did see 20 plus years ago was to Bear cubs. No sow just the cubs on the edge of a field.

Oh just wait til the black panther guys chime in. At least there is a possibility a wild mountain lion will eventually end up in Bama or it could escape from its sanctuary, but a non existent animal ( black panther) claimer will get defensive.

Black jaguars do exist and look extremely similar to a panther or mtn lion

Do you know how many large cat sanctuaries have been around?
Years ago there was one close to Rogersville. It was well documented and the folks running it found out how expensive it was to feed those big cats. Where’d they end up?

You can have a black jaguarandi and a black jaguar, neither are of which is a black mountain lion nor are either in our country unless as stated are in a zoo or sanctuary. There are not many escapees from either annually so the odds of seeing either is likely not high and almost impossible for multiple people in different areas to see the same escapee all over the state but hey what do I know maybe they are everywhere just really good at hiding from the millions of cars, millions of hunters, millions of game cameras and millions of houses in Alabama
