My FIL told me about seeing a Mountain Lion here in Tuscaloosa He said it was on the bank as he was turning off the toll road headed to the airport Said it stood and walk parallel to the truck and went into the woods also said it was a tawny color He didnt talk much about anything but when he did he was serious

Someone post up a trail cam pic or any real evidence there is one or has been one in Alabama. You constantly hear about them and people will get fighting mad but they never have any proof. I don't care if we have them or not, I just do not understand why people get so defensive over something that has never been confirmed to my knowledge. Oh just wait til the black panther guys chime in. At least there is a possibility a wild mountain lion will eventually end up in Bama or it could escape from its sanctuary, but a non existent animal ( black panther) claimer will get defensive. Black jaguars do exist and look extremely similar to a panther or mtn lion Do you know how many large cat sanctuaries have been around? Years ago there was one close to Rogersville. It was well documented and the folks running it found out how expensive it was to feed those big cats. Where’d they end up? I suspect they died cause the would not do well hunting in Alabam You can have a black jaguarandi and a black jaguar, neither are of which is a black mountain lion nor are either in our country unless as stated are in a zoo or sanctuary. There are not many escapees from either annually so the odds of seeing either is likely not high and almost impossible for multiple people in different areas to see the same escapee all over the state but hey what do I know maybe they are everywhere just really good at hiding from the millions of cars, millions of hunters, millions of game cameras and millions of houses in Alabama Nope I’m just simply point out it is possible. Highly unlikely but still possible. Like anything unknown at the time it has to exist first and foremost before it is confirmed. It’s statistically impossible for it to exist and be found at the same moment. I’ve never thought all sitings were accurate rather a small percentage were possible. Things are rarely black and white rather “it depends” more than not. It has been recorded of a mtn lion traveling from out west to the Jersey turnpike and being run over. He wasn’t run over until he got there. How many folks saw him traveling thru. I don’t think anyone claiming to actually seeing a mtn lion or big black cat continuously in an area for any extended time. It’s usually a brief period or mostly just once. So that increases the likelihood of being plausible. Life is rarely all or none but instead endless possibilities

Everyone here knows that animals abide by state boundaries and will not cross them.

I remember back in the early 2000s they swore up-and-down there were no black bears in central Alabama to say so meant you were crazy. In fact, I think I remember that same mindset on here. Meanwhile, I knew people who were seeing them in their yards people were seeing them driving down some of the back roads over here where I live and then one day on highway 5 someone had hit one. About a month later they came out and said yes, there is a small population of black bears in the West Blocton area due to the abandon mines. This isn’t big foot that we’re talking about we’re talking about it’s animals that we know for a fact live in bordering states.

Also deal only in all or none or only black and white or absolutes Life has many shades of gray and only a few things are black and white Heck I took a pic of a western diamond back a few years ago. He was a mile down the road from coondog cemetery I thought it was an eastern but y’all told me otherwise

Here’s an old mt lion story for you.In the fall/winter of 1973-74,there were several sightings of a mt lion in the Queenstown rd area of Trussville. It was covered by the tv and radio news.An old man who lived on Queenstown rd said it killed a pig or two and attacked a Shetland pony.Story I remember is that Jim Fowler from Mutual of Omaha s Wild kingdom came to town to look at the kills and he identified the tracks as a mt lion. Then it died cause it could not survive in the wild
