Years ago I asked a DCNR chieftan what would happen if I shot a mountain lion.

"You can't do that!"

But we don't have any of them here. Y'all said so. If I shot one then it shouldn't be a big deal if we don't have them.

"You can't do that! There's no open season!"

So, you're saying we have mountain lions in Alabama.

"NO!"

Then I could shoot one if I saw one since it would be an invasive species.

"You can't do that!"

So, you're saying we have mountain lions in Alabama.

"I didn't say that!"

It was fun seeing his face turn red.

I asked the same thing about Canada geese that don't migrate and live year year-round. If they don't migrate, they're not migratory birds and shouldn't be protected as such. The f'king golf course honkers and neighborhood geese that chit everywhere and never get pressured shouldn't get protection. Mr. Wildlife Agency official disagreed on that, too.

Well unless you can tell a western from a florida, which are endangered and federally protected, people had better not do that. The guy in GA that shot one is facing some massively heavy fines and possible jail time if they decide to prosecute. They pulled DNA and the one in north GA turned out to be a Florida panther that was out wandering around and the USFWS is now involved and working with GA DNR trying to decide what they want to do with the guy (want to guess the probable outcome with the feds involved?). I guess that one must have just been illiterate and could not read, and actually did walk across a state line while meandering north, but we all know that couldnt happen in AL.

That ol boy probably reads Aldeer and knew if he didn't shoot it and produce a corpse no one would believe him. Now look what it got him!

Not in Bama. Basically every trail cam pic posted in "bama" is also posted with another states names as well somewhere. There aren't track pics and kill site pics anywhere if they are there are as many there as people say.

The breeding population response is not a prerequisite for seeing one but used to dismiss the possibility. What’s funny is the states around used to say the same thing yet now there is actual evidence.

Exactly!!!....Good post. thumbup

There would have to be thousands of young males traveling through to account for everyone seeing lions in bama and never getting a single picture of one

I was bow hunting and actually got stood up to take a shot when I saw the one I saw coming through the woods because it looked like a deer moving through some opening at first.......I saw a tan body coming at me...... It walked by me at roughly 30 yards I got a good look at it.....

You actually might get in trouble but not for a game violation. Unless you could convince people it was self defense you might get charged for killing the guy wearing the fake suit. BECAUSE THERE ARE NO REAL ONES!

Yall just keep assuming youve seen everything and apparently you also know everything, heck, yall know about and have personally seen every picture ever taken on every trail cam ever stuck to a tree in alabama. . Everybody who owns a trail camera in alabama dont feel the need to put everything they get a picture of on social media. Alot of people dont feel the need to run out and tell everybody.

If some one had a picture of a Bigfoot or a mountain lion, if they didn't put it on the internet, they would've shared it with someone who would!

Ive seen three pictures of them that i can remember and i didnt post it. I got a picture of one two or three years ago and i didnt post it. Riddle me this, why would anybody with a picture of a big cat they got on a trail camera post it on here? Give me one reason why anybody would do that. Most people wont even post the pictures of deer they kill on here.

That’s why you rarely if ever catch me saying anything is absolutely or black and white. I’m approaching 60 and finally realized life deals in a lot of gray areas and rarely absolutes.

I like how others know ones personal experience.

I can give an example where a kid 30 years ago was whipped for lying because he kept saying he saw a pheasant in a cutover. No one believed him. A few years passed and find out a guy next to the cutover had a continental shoot the same year that kid saw a pheasant. Had a guy call me wanting to know if I had been raising them again since he had a hen rooster hanging out on his farm. Said nope it’s been 15 plus years and there’s no way they were reproducing. I’d released many in his farm back when. I asked around and even a biologist if that was possible. A big nope

Well come to find out the farmer on the other side had released 100 pheasant. That farmer doesn’t hunt but a guy paid him to use his property to train his dogs. LOL

Considering there is actual documentation of numerous mtn lion sightings in TN a few in GA and Arkie and the Florida panthers in Florida. I mean there absolutely no way one could venture here. 😂

So people would believe them. What's the difference in posting a picture, and posting you have a picture?

Because you could quit spending so much time trying to educate everyone and just post a picture. I've seen one in Southern Tennessee but I don't care if anyone believes me or if they deny they exist there. It's obviously important to you so just suggesting you could save a lot of typing by posting the picture. This bunch will have the meta data broken down and verified within the hour.

Because it would quiet the neigh Sayers, like me. My mother swears she saw a Black Panther cross the road in front of her heading in to the corinth campground about 40 years ago. I tell her she didn't and she won't convince me otherwise. There are NO BLACK PANTHERS IN ALABAMA.

There are also no Bigfoots carrying Mountain Lions under their arms. Because there aren't any Mountain Lions nor Bigfoots in Bama.

Over this past weekend from my shooting house I saw an Orange House Cat, a Fox, and a Labradoodle that cut across the corner of the field very rapidly. I thought to myself, Hmmmm, only thing left is a mt. Lion and Bigfoot to round out this hunt. I waited a couple more hours and neither showed up?

I might get assaulted by a bigfoot and eaten by a Mountain Lion this weekend but until them, I'm not a beleiver.

So, what youre saying is tha if i posted a picture of a big cat i got on a game camera, people on here would believe me? I reckon since youre pretty new around here, i wont call you dumb. But do this for me. Go back and find me one picture of a big cat on here where anyone ever believed them. One picture, one time. I bet you cant do it. If i posted a picture of a big cat on here, 27 people would say its a house cat, 32 people would say its a bobcat( even though it has a 3ft tail), 18 people would say the picture is in wyoming, 22 people would say im a liar, 14 people would say its a bad picture of a coyote but i promise you nobody would ever believe me. So, again, why would anybody ever post a picture of a big cat on here? And to answer your question, its exactly the same, nobody believes it either way.

That's because 100% of the time someone posts a picture of that nonsense it turns out to fit in one of the above categories. And keep in mind, we're not just talking about mountain lions. In this post Bigfoot aliens, and big cats have been brought up, even jaguardians have been seen in alabama in the last week, all this going on right here in alabama and the only people seeing this, are the ones going deep enough in the woods. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But mine is all the above is nonsense. We don't live in the Yukon where there's miles and miles of uninhabited forest. It's alabama, man!

I would say the reason most people on here have never seen a big cat and dont believe there is one nor has ever been one in Alabama is because big cats generally dont hang around in subdivisions. Quite sure everyone here, 100%, believe in coyotes. Theres plenty of evidence of them, you see them pretty regular on the news when peoples house cats and lap dogs start going missing.
