My buddy killed a giant sided deer first 30 minutes of his hunt last week. Deer would have scored 200” if it hadn’t been just a normal 8 side on the other making him in the 160s. He said it was the worst rut he’s seen up there though.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

My theory was the big cold front at Halloween brought a lot of doe in heat suddenly, or it’s going to be a long trickle rut where all you can do is just hope for the best. It seems like that it was slow across the entire Midwest. I know I talked to lots of hunters around me and everybody had the same report. Worst they have ever seen.

I’m soaked all the way to the underside of my toe nails. I have no idea how I’m going to dry my clothes before morning.

Matt everything I got is soaked but I did tag a 150lb doe. Her sister was 200lbs I swear. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Now as for the one I shot she was the toughest deer I ever seen. I hit low and broke both front leg knuckles. She was running on her chest. Told my buddy I heard bone when it hit. It was so thick and pouring rain and my buddy seen her in a creek and called for me to come. When I got there my crossbow scope was so fogged I hit her again but high lung and it stuck in a log on pass thru. Had my knife to just jump on her and end it but pulled my arrow from the log and heart shot her to end it. What a tuff deer!!! I ended it fast as I could and we then realized coyotes had eat her butt out. Poor girl was shot coyote literally eating her alive and got shot twice more. Post the pic Matt

When I saw that rub I about freaked out. Tree almost big as a volleyball. I guess we lucky but we are all over deer. It’s insanity where we are.

Y’all say a prayer for ole Matt he climbed with a shooter on a bedded doe at 65yrds. Good Lord let her come his way when she stands up. We saw a 150” buck driving over to our spot. Cold hard rain here so I walked in blind down a firebreak road in a ceader thicket next to a no hunt zone. Found a saddle in a hardwood bottom and popped a blind to stay dry. Got my buddy after that 200lb doe and hope he kills so people will believe it. LOL

Couldn’t stand it any longer. I climbed down and went to him. Got around 15 yards and really studied him. He was young and not quite the deer I came her for, although he was very gnarly with trashy stuff. I had to let him walk.

Chootem Matt. Moved my blind up to the edge of the No hunt zone. Warden says I can hunt up to the line. This place is hammered with rubs. Got Trixie the decoy out in the road/fire break. Any buck crossing 150 yrds each way will see her and powdered her ass with golden estrus. My buddy is on a creek crossing and started seeing does cross. This low pressure spinning on us is tough

Y’all are running out of time. Don’t be coming home with an unpunched KS tag. Shoot the dang 130’s gnarly trashy buck!

Giving him a lot of credit. He wouldn’t have come out of the low 120s.

Nice. 👍👍

I'd rather eat tag soup than come back from Kansas with a buck I should have let walk.

I sure wish everyone would have this view, I've been here for 11 days and all I've seen are young 130-140" deer hopefully it will change after this front. I saw a 120" deer in the bed of a truck with an out of state tag at a store with a group of locals around discussing "out of state" meat hunters, can't say I disagreed with them

Tomorrow will be my 8th day hunting. I think all the big boys are still on does in cover. I finally bit the bullet and I’ve entered that thick stuff today with them and started seeing more deer. Hopefully I’ll see the right one tomorrow. I’m not shooting a deer here to fill a tag. I come to KS to kill a deer I can’t in Bama.

I’m headed next week to hunt Oklahoma but literally on Kansas line. One stand is about 100 yards from Kansas fence line. Weather does look good!

Claims rep that is a hilarious meme. I got 4 days left. Had a young 8pt come in this afternoon. He saw Trixie and walked up the firebreak to 40yrds. I’ve seen several bucks the best being a 3-/2 old 7 pt. This low pressure setting on top of us has hurt us. Next few days should be great. We’re going back where I saw the 2 big ones . Legit 170”+ deer and talking to neighbors there is a 3rd to go 160”
