I do my drankin' from a Dixie cup...

I've been casually watching this truck on Bookface and yesterday among all the other things we were doing with family, skeet and trap shooting, the girls shopping, etc... My son and law and I ran over to this guy's house to check out his truck. The guy had just dropped the price and I knew it wouldn't last. Fortunately, he was only about 10 minutes from the cabin. We drove it and was is solid as a rock, and worked out a deal.

1994 Ford F150 Short Bed
300ci inline 6 cylinder (First year with fuel injection)
4 speed on the floor with overdrive
Base XL model with roll up windows, heat and a radio.
Bench seat
4x4 with manual locking hubs
Not a spec of rust anywhere
Totally straight except for a dent in the left rear quarter just behind the wheel well.
It has a pretty bad worn spot on the driver's side of the bench seat.

I was going to give him a deposit to hold it and then realized the bank was still open, so I ran down there grabbed some cash and now she's all mine.

I'm keeping all the original patina, fixing the dent, getting the seat repaired, and taking it down to my mechanic and have him go over everything, but feel pretty good about it. I may put a little lift on it and maybe some slightly larger tires, not sure yet. It's all completely original. I'm the second owner.

Thanks...

It's probably going to be my main truck in retirement. I think we're going to sell the 2018 Ram 1500 and use that money to buy a C class camper for retirement travelling.

Nice. Those were good trucks. We had one come up for sale at a place I used to work when it wouldn’t run and the boss wanted it gone. A buddy I worked with bought it for $900.00 because like I said, the boss wanted it gone. Turns out all that was wrong was a stopped up converter. My buddy changed it out and drove it for years. Haven’t seen him in a long time. He may still have it.

That’s sharp brother. I like the *slight* lift idea. Don’t go full redneck, but a slightly beefier stance and shoes would look nice.

The 300ci inline six is pretty legendary for reliability. Driving feels like driving a piece of agriculture equipment.

I was wrong about the fuel injection. The 300ci was first fuel injected in 1987, but it was given a bump in horsepower in 1994. 150hp and 260 ft/lbs of torque available at only 2000 rpm.

Nice. I really like ford trucks that body style. I have two of them, a f250 4wd service truck and a flatbed f350. Ive abused the heck out of the f250 for about 5yrs now and it just keeps on going. If it lays down tomorrow, ill be looking for another one

My first truck was an 82 ford with an inline six. Dad wanted me to drive it because it was one of the few vehicles with the pedal to the floor would only go zero to fifty in over a half minute unless you were going downhill. great find👍

I had an 86 with the inline six and granny gear you could let it drive itself and load hay in the back of it.
Only issue I had with the inline 6 was the fiber/composite cam gear??
Honestly, I don't remember for sure, as it could have been the plastic/nylon timing teeth?
I'm thinking it was the cam gear and I replaced it with a metal one.

Regardless, it was a great truck.

Congrats on the find and working out the price!!

Keep us updated with the body work and fixups!

God Bless,
David B.

It's a nice bodystyle. Looks like a truck should.

The engine has either been rebuilt recently or resealed. All of the gaskets look new and have sealant.

It's amazing how tight the truck is and how well it drives. My son-in-law and I both expected it to be a bucket of bolts, but when we both drive it, we just kind of looked at each other at the same time and said, "This thing is solid as a rock."

Heck yeah! I looked at a 1988 Ford Ranger yesterday. Didn't buy it though.

Yep... Did a lot of reading on the 300ci.

It's going to make a good Pawpaw truck.

Very nice. I had one same year and model (Calypso Green) accept mine was 2wd. I bought my from the father n law and he purchased it brand new in Chatom (first New vehicle he ever purchased) only reason i sold was because i wanted a 4wd, ended up selling to BNL and he still has her. Think she has just under 400k on original motor...

It's even got the trailer towing package on it.

I'm taking it to my bodywork guy just up the road and when I get him to fix the dent I'm going to get him to buff out the paint, but leave all the blemishes. It appears to be a single stage paint, so I think it will polish up nicely. The bumpers don't even have a dent in them.

I have always liked that body style F150 for the simplicity. Those 300-6 are as reliable as any engine ever built and with a good set of mudders they were nearly unstoppable. If it were me and I was going to use it regularly, I would try to find the 60/40 seat to rehab vs having the bench redone. Your back will thank you for it. Good find.
