Aside from the general humor on this post, what I like the most is the hypocrisy. If someone claims to have seen a mountain lion or black panther and someone doesn't believe them the claimant is incredulous, insulted and then says the non believer is calling him a liar. The claimant then goes on to say that he does not believe in bigfoot or aliens but for sure there are black cats. Little do they realize they are calling all of the bigfoot and alien believers liars. Yet they don't blink an eye nor realize they are doing the same thing! If someone does not believe there are big cats in Alabama, move on and set your trail cam up! I, for one, would like to see one shred of proof before I believe they are here.

gobbler, i dont believe in bigfoot. Never have i said someone claiming to see one is a liar. I reckon alot of times seeing is believing. If i ever saw one, i wouldnt have any choice but to believe. Im pretty sure theres quite a bit of unexplained things left on this planet. I dont believe in aliens but i have seen a ufo. Thats finda odd as well, huh? It was flying, definately unidentified, but i dont believe aliens were flying it. Well this clears it up!!! Just like you can't show anyone a picture of any of the stuff you say you seen. You can't produce one post where anyone called you a liar. So I guess this is one of those government deals where it ok for you to do it, but no else can?

Several years ago timbercrusier, a long time member that passed from cancer, sent me pics of several tracks that he took on a property that was being cut in Coffee county from what he said he thought was a large cat. John said that the logging crew saw the cat one morning when they got to work. He thought that I worked for DCNR and sent me the pictures. I told him that I didn’t but I could put him in touch with someone that would help him. A few months later John told me that the warden in that area said the pictures were inconclusive that he was a large cat. And that was all that he would say. So I guess that it’s not impossible but highly unlikely that some migrate here.

I've always enjoyed the black panther discussions; been hearing them my whole life. Every one of my HS Ag students had a story about them in the 70s. Kids today don't even have good stories to tell. But even I had a couple of encounters I couldn't explain. In the early 70s my grandfather and I were setting a trap line in Wilcox county and came across a track on a sandbed by a creek. We both said it was a bobcat track, but it was 4 times as big as a bobcat. He had supported his family by trapping during the depression and knew far more about trapping and fur bearing critters and that track scared him to death. There was a Florida panther hanging around his home in the 30s that kept the whole neighborhood scared and he saw it's track many times and knew what one looked like. He eventually shot at him with an old SxS shotgun and they never saw it again. He didn't think he killed it, but just ran it off. He was convinced that the track in Wilcox was made by the same type animal. There were no cameras in the woods in those days, so maybe it was. About a year later I was driving through Lowndes county on a rural road just after sunset when an animal bounded out of the woods to the right and crossed to my left. It was the size of a really big bobcat, or maybe even a little bigger than that. It was colored like a bobcat, and it ran like a bobcat. The unusual part was that it had a tail as long as the rest of his body. I don't know what that could have been except a juvenile cougar of some sort, and he either came from FL or somewhere north. That was nearly 50 years ago and Lowndes was a lot wilder than it is now. I described the animal to a number of folks at Auburn soon after it happened and the story wasn't doubted back then the way it is now. Some today will say it was a coyote, but a coyote would have been just as unusual as big cat in 1975, and I really believe I have enough experience to tell the difference in a cat and a canine. So there's 2 encounters my family had with big cats, though one was 90 years ago and the other about 50. I think it's possible some could pass through the state, but it couldn't be many or all those cameras would get pictures. Suits me if they stay out anyway. Now I don't see how anyone could doubt the existence of a Yahoo. Plenty of evidence for them.

gobbler, i dont believe in bigfoot. Never have i said someone claiming to see one is a liar. You made my point. You have accused others who don't believe you have seen a mountain lion of calling you a liar just because they don't believe you. You are doing the same by saying you don't believe in bigfoot or aliens. stop calling people liars! You must believe them and in bigfoot, just like they must believe in mountain lions in alabama simply because you have claimed to have seen one See how that works!

Housecat Kodiak, not even a big one, likely about 12lb or so.......Well, no. Thats definately a cougar, about 3/4 grown, i can tell that by the fact that it was taken in a place where cougars have been documented That cats well over 100#. Have bear and deer same spot. Its an eye opener. Ive seen 3, never gun in hand, never in bow range. I go call every time I get a pic but no luck yet.
