They're headed East toward Ol' Hi_Jackson now , getting filled up all other directions I reckon. There's 3 complexes going up in East H'ville around Chapman Mt./72 East now. Throwing them up quick. They're clearing another big area , doing site prep just a little east of those also. Just about gotta be apartments or another subdivision. Crazy . Something I've noticed too , they are large , clumped together , 3-4 stories high and wood framed . One of those North Alabama , high grade twisters hit one of those it's gonna be really bad.

Huntsville like Houston is not a bad analogy.
H-ville has a lot of odd factors which affect how its infrastructure works, and the biggest problem is, like with everything else...the Federal government.
Not only does H-ville have the Department of Defense concerns around Redstone, it also has TVA which likes to take its time and hold forth on every damn planning and design option known to humanity. H-ville is also bringing in mega-large corporate facilities which have a lot of damn people attached to them, and do not forget all the spin-off small businesses. Walmart, Dollar General, and other big retailers, have formulas which basically state that for every large factory that equals a certain number of stores for the area near it. Hyundai brought at least three Walmarts to Montgomery, maybe more.

Huntsville is going to be Alabama's Houston.
Unfettered suburban sprawl with no heart and soul.
Yes I live in the woods and I love it, but I have been to some pretty cool cities with neat vibrant city centers.
That ain't going to be Huntsville. Pretty much nailed it and it’s been a sprawling city since I lived up that way in the 80s. I finally found the subdivision we started in the 80s on county line road. It was the first one built and it’s taken me some time to find it because of how much had been built. When my sis was at Huntsville Hospital I was amazed at construction in the area. I imagine Redstone draws people from around the world. Look at Priceville since it’s a hop skip and a jump from Huntsville. Construction is slowing down though, interest rates are bringing down affordability in the market and what consumers want.

There have to be 1,000's of new apartment units under construction in Huntsville/Madison right now. Where the hell are all the people going to come from that will fill them and where are these people going to work???
Been asking the same thing. And the traffic is getting bad around Madison between 5-6:30 PM.

Wife and I were at Huntsville Hospital yesterday. We were taking to a Doctor and the subject of them being very busy came up. He said they're talking about adding 4 more floors on top of what's there now. I think he said 140 patient rooms. That adds more employees , more patients , more visitors. Where they gonna park? That place is a huge cluster now , wait till they start the construction!

That’s my assumption I could be completely wrong

Depending on how their parking decks are designed, a lot of them are built so that its relatively easy to add extra decks as needed. That big one at UAB that is one of the tallest buildings around the UAB complex comes to mind.

I was born in Huntsville, and moved away for a little while. When we moved back Countyline road had exploded. I remember when Madison exploded in the 80's. Now it seems that Huntsville is trying to catch up. I have been shocked by the amount of apartments, that have been built, and not just in the NE part of the city. I dont get it, as most of the people that are moving into Huntsville will not live in apartments very long if ever. We moved out of Huntsville around 2019, and sold our house in Huntsville in 2022. We relocated to Jackson county, and have been noticing that traffic has increased considerably over the past year. So basically they will come in and screw up this area very soon. I bet there will be some major stuff go in across from Madison County HS soon . It's ripe for big manufacturing .

If any of those apartments house families, I don’t know where the hell the kids would fit into already crowded schools. Specifically all the housing going up in Hampton Cove/owens Cross Roads area. There are 6 parking garages at Huntsville Hospital. At least 4 of them that I can think of can go upwards

I was shocked to see how much had been built in Hazel Green and Meridianville. My buddy lives in Greenlawn and behind his house was farm land, it had been that way since he built about 15 years ago, and he told me that a developer bought it and has started prep to put in a subdivision. It will screw up his back yard which was very nice and quiet. He is thinking about moving now.

They better break ground on some new buildings soon.

I keep waiting for the day when Huntsville tries to annex Meridianville. The amount of growth to the Tennessee state line is amazing. New Market, Hazel Green, and Meridianville will be one big suburban area in 10 years if this growth keeps up. And everyone will still be driving on 2 lane roads dodging potholes. Yeah, they've gone North , South and West bout as far as they can go . Looks like they're heading East . Don't know about annexing , they have bout all they can say grace over now. But who knows , 25 years they may annex Fayetteville TN.
