I did the same thing in my son’s dodge avenger. Took that car deep in to some wma’s! I need the gas mileage more than the truck when I left the state!

I can understand. If you are a former west Texan like me, the opportunity to drive on muddy roads just didn't happen that often. grin

I remember many moons ago taking a 76 ford courier 2wd into places at skyline wma that amazed alit of folks. I would take off there by myself no cell phones back then and can’t remember if we even had a house phone at the time. I would build up a head of steam and glide over some bad spots. Young and stupid. Now I’d turn around just seeing those spots

Car has a big trunk, but I just quarter them and throw em in Ruck sack now. I'm done dragging deer.

There's a lot of places you can get to in a car. They also improved a lot of the roads and with the drought things have been dry. The real reason I got stuck is the FWD lost grip on the incline past the muddy spot. I had been through that spot twice with no issue. I had to back down the incline to find a place to turn around and I got the front end stuck on the center because, well I was going in reverse in the dark.

Lesson learned. If I see too much water and mud I don't chance it. My enemy has just been inclines. Once that weight shifts back there is just no grip going up a hill.

Glad you got out ok, and good to see folks hunting with whatever vehicle they have. I hauled several deer in the trunk of a 65 Impala. I don't remember ever getting it stuck, but that was probably just luck.

When I was 16 back in 1972, I had an old corvair 1964 model. The engine is in the back like a vw. Me and a couple of guys would pile in that thing before daylight and drive from Monkey Town up to Coosa County. One guy had some relatives with a lot of land. We would hunt like crazy and just throw the deer in the front trunk. That thing would go everywhere up in the dirt tracks on their land. Muddy or not...lol It also had some of those worn out may-pop tires on it. Young and dumb...Had a great time though.

Been stuck many times and seen a lot of folks stuck. But I’ve never seen a truck that’s “stuck” without mud all over the sides, windows, and top of truck. That ain’t stuck. That’s I didn’t wanna get it muddy and hammer down on it and see if I can get out. There’s no way you tried to get outta that. There’s barely any mud on the truck whatsoever

Take it easy there, pal. Gomer has been a good sport about that incident.

That’s cool. Not trying to say anything other than the obvious. His truck and he can treat it how he wants. But that ain’t stuck.

Hell I got stuck in a bone dry cuttover a couple weeks ago before we got all that rain. Called a buddy to bring me my tractor jack out of my shop because I was stuck. They thought I was joking till 3 buddies showed up. Fresh cutover and I was gonna back down the hill to turn around (Yes Ass First) and didnt see the stump. It was just high enough on the slope that I hung my rear chunk and one tire came off the ground. The other rear tire was spinning in deep sand. I thought I could just lock in 4x4 and let the front wheels pull it off but the nose just kept sliding down the hill. It got to the point I was about to rip the strut off the rear axle to I had to call in for a tractor jack to pick the rear up and drive it off the jack. 1st time being stuck on a hill during a drought.

The dry weather certainly gave me a lot more confidence than I should have had. I hope to never be in that situation again, but I just ordered a 30-foot strap and a 4-ton come-along to keep in the truck. I think half of Aldeer has my number now. I might not have 4x4 to pull you out, but I'll do what I can if anyone gets stuck in these parts. It's a crappy feeling being stuck
