hell if he can reach it and she'll stand still long enough he'll breed .

I guess if I were going to choose a factor to determine when to shoot does it would be when the does stop having twins and are only having singletons….I would imagine you could correlate an average weight with that threshold and use it as your guide……The idea being that 100 does having twins produce the same number of offspring as 200 does having singletons but the 100 are far fewer females to be bred.

I don’t know… What could you assume if your does were about 50% twins and 50% singles, and the average weight was good. Say around 100-115lbs?

Predation would be a HUGE factor in getting an accurate count .

Yep….I agree. I think weight would be the easiest measurement to look at but working out the target numbers for your area might take a little doing. I’m guessing that your standard doe is gonna have some variance in size from one part of the state to another depending on soil fertility and farming……If it wasn’t for that we could probably all just come up with standard target weight for everyone…..like say 100 lbs.

I will say this though, we could probably just use common sense with some situations and say that if you’ve got 115-120 lb average for grown does in Alabama then its probably safe to say that you’re ok…..I would think that the twin to singleton threshold we’re talking about would be more like 90-95 lbs for most folks, maybe less.
